(ST. CLOUD, MN)— The St. Cloud Rox Baseball Club had a memorable inaugural season on the field, narrowly missing the playoffs late in the season. However, that wasn’t the only thing the organization was focused on. Numerous events throughout the season highlighted an extra effort in making the community an integral focus for the club.

The Rox supported over 120 local non-profit and charity events throughout the inaugural season. The Rox raised more than $8,000 for local charities in the St. Cloud area and partnered with multiple local businesses to help raise awareness and money for important causes throughout the season with various promotions. One of those promotions was held on July 21st when St. Cloud Medical Group, Riddle’s Jewelry, and the Rox brought fans of Central Minnesota “Pink in the Park Night” in an effort to raise funds and awareness for women’s health. The event included a silent auction and pink hat sales that raised over $1,000 for Susan G. Komen For the Cure. The event ended with a “Digging for Rocks” contest held in the infield where one lucky lady won a diamond ring valued at $2,000.

The Rox also partnered with Minnesota School of Business and Regional Diagnostic Radiology who helped support Military Appreciation Night on August 2nd at Joe Faber Field. The event featured a special pre-game presentation including a POW/MIA hot air balloon lift on the field, and other themed military events throughout the game. For Military Appreciation Night over $10,000 worth of Rox tickets were given to former and current military personnel and their families from Camp Ripley, the St. Cloud V.A., The National Guard, and other local military outlets.

Another popular event from the 2012 season was a free youth clinic for kids 12 and under on July 29th. The Rox partnered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, St. Cloud Area YMCA, and Northland Capital to provide not only a free clinic, but also a free ticket to the Rox game that evening for any kid that signed up. The event was a huge success as nearly 100 boys and girls signed up and participated.

“From our corporate partners to our fans to our host families to our players and staff there’s an enormous amount of generosity. It was incredible to see the entire Rox family work together and support a lot of wonderful causes.” Rox Vice President Scott Schreiner said.
Numerous local charity groups had a free opportunity to get noticed by the community at a Rox game on July 9th as the Rox hosted Community Spotlight Night which gave organizations without a budget an opportunity to be featured at a Rox game for no cost.

The Rox will begin their second season in the Northwoods League in late May of 2013. The 2013 slate of games is expected to be released in the coming weeks from the Northwoods League office. During their inaugural season the Rox led the North Division of the Northwoods League in attendance by hosting nearly 56,000 fans throughout the summer.
