The Make the Big Pitch contest will allow participants to suggest creative names now through April 5, 2013. Voting on the submitted names will take place April 8-12. Earlier this month, Element Mobile and the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters announced their plans to build a new seating and hospitality deck at Witter Field. The deck will serve as a group hospitality area during Rafters games while providing cover for the current third base courtyard. It will also host some fun theme nights for individual fans.

Jackie Shea, public relations manager at Element Mobile, said Element and the Rafters thought a public naming contest for the deck would a good idea given how popular Witter Field is within the community.

“Given the popularity of Witter Field, Element and the Rafters decided to hold a contest and have the community name the deck. The new deck will broaden the uses of Witter Field, so who better to name it than our community members.”

The deck will provide a unique seating area for baseball games at Witter Field, as it will be raised ten feet in the air.

Liz Kern, general manager of the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, said the new party deck will be a great enhancement to Witter Field for everyone. Not only will it offer new seating options, but it will also provide additional cover for fans.

“The deck will be a great new addition at the field, because of its versatility to serve all kinds of groups and themes,” Kern said. “Our partnership with Element Mobile is helping make this project a reality.”
