The Northwoods League had the busiest night of the season so far on Thursday, as 11 games were played, with three doubleheaders. The action was punctuated by walk-off wins in La Crosse and Rochester, while the Kalamazoo Mac Daddies and Kalamazoo Growlers split their doubleheader. The K-Town Bobbers split their doubleheader with the Kenosha Kingfish to pick up their first-ever win in the night cap.

Kalamazoo Growlers 3 Kalamazoo Mac Daddies 2
The Growlers held off a late charge from the Mac Daddies to escape with the win in game one of a doubleheader on Thursday. In the top of the ninth, Connor McGuire (Cal-Irvine) drew a walk before advancing all the way around the bases on wild pitches, eventually scoring on a wild pitch to get the Mac Daddies to within one run. The Growlers defense, however, bent but didn’t break, as they got a strikeout and a groundout to end the game. Aaron Hubbell (Belmont) picked up the win for the Growlers, throwing two shutout innings, allowing a hit and recording a strikeout. Will Myllen (Western Michigan) came on and threw two-thirds of an inning to pick up his first save of the season.

Kalamazoo Mac Daddies 7 Kalamazoo Growlers 4
The Mac Daddies got their revenge in the nightcap, as they scored three runs in the eighth before adding a pair in the ninth to take down the Growlers. Brock Boynton (Quincy) was 2-4 for the Mac Daddies while Gavin Doyle (Western Michigan) was 1-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Doyle also drew a pair of walks. Garrett Navarra (Central Michigan) picked up the win, as he threw two innings, allowing one unearned run and a hit with two strikeouts. Jack Huisman (Western Michigan) picked up the save after throwing two shutout innings.

Kenosha Series
Kenosha Kingfish 7 K-Town Bobbers 6
The Kingfish did most of their damage in the fourth, as they put six runs on the scoreboard to take the first game of the doubleheader. Kai Murphy (Oregon State) was 2-5 for the Kingfish offense, with a run scored and two RBI. Justin Janas (Illinois) also drove in two runs, while going 2-5 with a double. Bryant Bagshaw (Dominican University) picked up the win for the Kingfish, as he threw three relief innings, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts. Jacob DeLabio (Carthage College) threw two innings, allowing two runs on three hits to pick up the save.

K-Town Bobbers 9 Kenosha Kingfish 0
The Bobbers scored five runs in the top of the fourth to pick up their first-ever win, as they easily beat the Kingfish in the second game of their doubleheader. Justice Bigbie (Western Carolina) led the Bobbers offense, going 3-4 with a double and three RBI. Brett Harris (Gonzaga) finished the game 2-5 with an RBI while Nick Gonzalez (South Florida) was 2-3 with a run scored. Eliot Turnquist (Ball State) picked up the win for the Bobbers, throwing three scoreless innings, only walking one batter while recording four strikeouts. As a staff, the Bobbers racked up 10 strikeouts on the night.

Wisconsin-Illinois Pod
Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 6 Rockford Rivets 4
The Dock Spiders scored three runs in the second to get started, as they held off a seventh-inning challenge from the Rivets to take the first game of the doubleheader. Sam Novitske (Oregon) led the Dock Spiders’ offense, going 2-4 at the plate, with both his hits being doubles. He also scored a pair of runs. Jack Alexander (Austin Peay) was 2-3 on the afternoon with an RBI. Drew Irvine (Iowa) picked up the win for Fond du Lac, throwing three relief innings, allowing three runs on five hits while recording five strikeouts.

Rockford Rivets 2 Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 1
The Rivets got their revenge in the second game, as they squeaked past the Dock Spiders to salvage a split. Jeff Heinrich (South Carolina) had a nice game at the plate for Rockford, going 3-3 with a double and a run scored. Jordan Wicks (Kansas State) had an unbelievable performance on the mound, as he threw five innings, allowing three hits and racking up 10 strikeouts to pick up his second win of the season. Noah DeLuga (Minnesota) picked up the save, as he threw one scoreless inning, allowing a hit and recording a strikeouts.

Green Bay Booyah 5 Wisconsin Woodchucks 2
The Booyah scored a pair of runs in the third and the fourth to slide past the Woodchucks on Thursday night. The Booyah brought their big bats, as Andy Blake (Columbia) and Alec Burns (West Virginia) both hit solo home runs, while the pitching staff got a strong outing from Garrett Martin (Marian University), who threw four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and recording eight strikeouts to pick up the win. Cam Bailey (Middle Georgia State) picked up the save after throwing three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and recording five strikeouts.

La Crosse Loggers 8 Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 7
The Loggers picked up a walk-off win over the Rafters on Thursday night thanks to a ninth-inning single from Matt Stinebiser (Duke) that allowed Andrew Meggs (Creighton) to score the winning run. Jacob Blas (Arizona) had a big night at the plate, going 2-5 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI. JT Thompson (Texas State) also had three hits on the night in addition to two RBI. Travis Weston (Boise State) got the start for the Loggers and threw four solid innings, allowing two runs on three hits while recording four strikeouts. Cam Wynne (Nebraska) ended up getting the win after throwing two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout.

Minnesota-Iowa Pod
Rochester Honkers 7 Mankato MoonDogs 6 (10 innings)
The Honkers walked-off the MoonDogs on Thursday night thanks to a two-RBI double in the bottom of the 10th from Taison Corio (Cal Poly) that allowed Steven Moretto (Sacramento State) and Jacob Shaver (Arizona), sending the crowd home happy. Rochester entered the bottom of the ninth down 5-4, but were able to scratch across a run to send the game to extra innings, where the MoonDogs scored a run of their own to take the lead. Corio ended up being the leader at the plate for Rochester, as he finished the game 2-6 with a double and three RBI. Kragan Kechely (Dallas Baptist) picked up the win for the Honkers, throwing two innings, allowing one run and three hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Waterloo Bucks 5 St. Cloud Rox 4
The Bucks scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to narrowly beat the Rox on Thursday at Joe Faber Field. Peyton Williams (Iowa) came on as a pinch hitter in the ninth for the Bucks and ripped a two-run home run to catapult them into the lead. Xane Washington (Nicholls State) was 3-5 for Waterloo, with one RBI while John Wuthrich (Texas State) was 1-4, with a double and an RBI. Christian McGowan (Eastern State College) picked up his second win of the season for the Bucks after throwing two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and recording a strikeout.

North Dakota Pod
Bismarck Larks 9 Mandan Flickertails 5
The Larks were able to hold off a late charge from the Flickertails to improve to 13-5 on the season thanks in part to Wyatt Ulrich (Richmond) who was 3-4 on the night with a double, a triple and two RBI. Chase Adkison (Boise State) was 2-4 with an RBI while Brody Tanksley (Indiana University Southeast) drove in two runs for the Larks. Brian Baker (Northern State) turned in a strong performance for the Larks on the mound, throwing five and one-third of an inning, allowing a hit but no runs and recording eight strikeouts to improve to 2-0 on the season. Andrew Brooks (University of Mary) threw two innings, allowing no runs on a hit with four strikeouts.
