It’s not often that a team wins three games in one day, but that’s exactly what the Kalamazoo Growlers did on Saturday, sweeping a tripleheader from the Battle Creek Bombers. While that was happening, the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders offense was running wild, putting up 15 runs against the Rockford Rivets.

Kalamazoo Growlers 7 Battle Creek Bombers 2
The Growlers scored six runs in the top of the fifth to take the first of three games against the Bombers on Saturday. Will Morrison (Western Michigan) led the Kalamazoo offense, going 3-3 with a run scored. Ben Van Cleve (Mississippi) was 1-3, but his one hit was a home run. Trent Quartermine (Ball State) was 1-3, with a double and two RBI. Eamon Horwedel (Ohio University) threw a complete game, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits with five strikeouts.

Kalamazoo scored the lone run of the game in the third inning on an RBI groundout from Brett Barrera (Stanford), which came right after Blake Dunn (Western Michigan) hit a triple to right field, which was the only extra base hit for the Growlers. Hayden Berg (Western Michigan) got the start for Kalamazoo and threw three shutout innings, allowing just one hit and recording five strikeouts. Will Mullen (Western Michigan) threw one shutout inning while Trey Nordmann (Howard College) had one perfect inning to pick up his fifth save of the season.

The Growlers closed out their three-game sweep with a one-run victory in the nightcap, thanks to Marra, who was 2-3, recording the only two hits for Kalamazoo on the game. Cade Stanton (Grand Valley State) picked an RBI for the Growlers. Kade Lancour (Ripon College) picked up the win, throwing one and one-third of an inning, allowing one run on two hits while striking out two batters. Andre Orselli (Ball State) picked up the save, throwing a scoreless fifth inning.

Traverse City Pit Spitters 6 Great Lakes Resorters 1
The Pit Spitters scored four insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to slip past the Resorters on Saturday night. Traverse City managed to win despite being outhit by the Resorters 8-6. Cade Heil (University of North Georgia) was dominating on the mound for the Spitters, throwing six innings, allowing a run on four hits while recording five strikeouts. Chris Monroe (University of Illinois Springfield) was 2-4 at the plate, with a double and a run scored while Craig Corliss (UMass Boston) was 1-4 with two runs batted in.

Rochester Honkers 7 Mankato MoonDogs 3
Pearce Howard (University of New Orleans) went 2-3 with a pair of home runs and four runs batted in to lead the Honkers to a big win over the MoonDogs. Howard was one of two Honkers to record multiple hits, with Robert Moore (Arkansas) going 2-3 with a double and two runs scored. Salvatore Ferro (LIU-Brooklyn) got the win for Rochester, throwing four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four batters. Jack Zalasky (Sacramento State) threw one inning, allowing a run on two hits to pick up his first save of the season.

Zane Mills (Washington State) had a dominating performance on the mound, throwing seven string innings to help the Rox to a 5-1 victory over the Stingers. He threw seven innings, allowing an unearned run on five hits with six strikeouts to pick up his second win of the season. Nate Peterson (Oklahoma State) threw two scoreless relief innings with four strikeouts to end the game. Garett Delano (Mercer) was 1-4 for the Rox, with a double and two RBI. Sam Ireland (Minnesota) and Andrew Pintar (BYU) both were 2-3 at the plate, while Jordan Barth (Augustana)was 2-4 with a double and a run scored.

La Crosse Loggers 7 Green Bay Booyah 6
It took 11 innings, but the Loggers managed to pull off a win over the Booyah on a walk-off wild pitch in the bottom of the 11th. It happened with two outs, runners on second and third, and JT Thompson at the plate. The second pitch of the at-bat got away from the catcher, going all the way to the backstop, allowing Braiden Ward (Washington) to score the game-winning run from third base, ending what ended up being a marathon. Andrew Meggs (Creighton) was the only La Crosse batter to have multiple hits, going 2-5 at the plate with an RBI. It was a sloppy game for both defenses, as the teams combined for 11 errors, with the Booyah committing seven.

Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 10 Wisconsin Woodchucks 7
The Rafters mounted a ninth-inning rally, scoring five runs to steal a victory from the Woodchucks. Andy Garriola (Old Dominion) was on fire for the Rafters, going 2-5, with both of his hits being home runs, resulting in five runs batted in. Angelo D’Acunto (College of the Holy Cross) was 1-4, with a home run and three RBI. Donovan Brandi (Wisconsin-Whitewater) picked up the win after throwing a scoreless eighth inning, while Brayden Bonner (Dixie State) had a scoreless ninth to earn his fifth save of the season.

Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 15 Rockford Rivets 1
The Dock Spiders had a second consecutive night of fireworks on offense, as they beat the Rivets 15-1 thanks to a nine-run third inning. Bryan Javier (Campbellsville University) was 3-5 for the Dock Spiders, with two doubles and three RBI. AJ Miller (Oregon) was 2-4, with a double and three runs batted in while Andrew Bullock (Charleston Southern) had a pair of RBI. Michael McBriar (Ashland University) threw seven shutout innings for Fond du Lac, allowing five hits and recording three strikeouts to earn his third win of the season.

Kenosha Series
Kenosha Kingfish 3 K-Town Bobbers 2
The Bobbers got on the board first, but were unable to hold onto the lead, as they narrowly fell to the Kingfish on Saturday night. Mitchell Bubam (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) was 1-3 for the Kingfish, with a home run and two RBI. Three of the four hits the Kingfish had were extra base hits, including doubles from Justin Janas (Illinois) and Drew Dyer (Carthage College). Jacob DeLabio (Carthage College) got the win for Kenosha, throwing two and one-thirds of an inning, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out one batter. Nick Meyer (Otterbein University) picked up the save after throwing two-thirds of an inning.
