Tuesday’s Northwoods League victories featured 10 games with five teams winning their two game series. The Willmar Stingers bounced back after last nights loss scoring 16 runs with a total of 19 hits against the Rochester Honkers. The Stingers had a total of 4 home runs making that the most home runs in a game this season so far.

Battle Creek Battle Jacks 10, Traverse City Pit Spitters 9 

The Battle Jacks rallied back to win 10-9 after their loss against the Pit Spitters last night. This offensive battle was started as the Battle Jacks drove in three runs in the 2nd inning, two runs in the 5th and five in the 6th. Fisher Pyatt (San Diego State University) led the team with four singles and two RBI. Keegan Batka (Kellogg Community College) was on the mound for 3.2 innings and had a total of 7 strikeouts.

`Mankato MoonDogs 2, Duluth Huskies 0 

The Mankato MoonDogs took the win again over the Duluth Huskies 2-0. This was a pitcher’s duel with Owen Boerema (University of Northwestern, Saint Paul) on the mound throwing eight innings and allowing only one hit winning pitcher of the night. The MoonDogs broke through in the seventh inning with a home run by Nick Altermatt (Minnesota State University, Mankato).

Madison Mallards 4, Lakeshore Chinooks 3

The Madison Mallards took the series against the Lakeshore Chinooks 4-3. The Chinooks struck first scoring two runs in the first inning but couldn’t hold the lead with the Mallards scoring in the 5th, 6th and 8th innings. Javier Beal (Southeastern Illinois College) went 2 for 4 with two RBI. Beau Nichols (Lincoln Memorial University) was the impact player of the game for the Mallards starting on the mound and throwing a total of nine innings with eleven strikeouts.

Kenosha Kingfish 8, Kalamazoo Growlers 4

The Kenosha Kingfish won the two game series against the Kalamazoo Growlers with an end score of 8-4. James Mccoy (University of Kentucky) started the game with a home run to left field in the first inning and a triple in the bottom of the sixth scoring two more runs. Tyler Mclauren (Saginaw Valley State University) had the win on the mound throwing a total of 3.2 innings with six strikeouts.

St.Cloud Rox 5, Waterloo Bucks 3

The St.Cloud Rox had the series win against the Waterloo Bucks 5-3. Charlie Condon (University of Georgia) won player of the night hitting his second home run of the series scoring 2 runs in the third inning. Josh Cowden also continued his success at the plate hitting his second triple of the series that scored the winning runs in the sixth inning. The Rox’s were able to hold their 5-3 lead in the sixth with a scoreless last 3 innings.

Willmar Stingers 18, Rochester Honkers 7

The Willmar Stingers took down the Rochester Honkers 16-7 after their loss last night. Elias Stevens (Maryville University) had a night at the plate hitting two home runs and a single with a total of 4 RBI. Drey Dirksen (Augustana University) also hit a home run in the ninth inning with  2 RBI. The Stingers finished the game with a total of 19 hits and a combined number of 12 strikeouts from the pitching staff today.

Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 3, Green Bay Rockers 0

The Wisconsin Rapid Rafters were able to take their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over the Green Bay Rockers. Marco Castillo (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps) started the game off by hitting a home run in the second inning giving the Rafters their first run of the game. Ben Ross (Notre Dame College) was able to provide insurance runs by hitting a two run home run in the seventh making the score 3-0. Michael Lindsey (Midland College) who had the win on the mound started the game throwing 5 innings with eight strikeouts. Logan Schulfer (University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee) came into the game in the sixth inning as the relief pitcher and threw the remaining 4 innings with five strikeouts.

Eau Claire Express 5, La Crosse Loggers 1

The Eau Claire Express split the series with a win of 5-1 over the La Crosse Loggers. JJ Pease (University of Montevallo)  started on the mound throwing six innings with six strikeouts and allowed only three hits. Cole Conn (University of Illinois at Chicago) broke the scoreless game in the third inning with a two run home run to left field. Conn also hit a double in the sixth inning scoring his 3rd RBI of the night. Sam Kuchinski (University of Montevallo) had his first two hits of the season, doubling to center and left field.

Kokomo Jackrabbits 8, Rockford Rivets 4

The Rivets held a two run lead until the Jackrabbits broke through scoring six runs in the eighth inning. Riley Garczynski (Indiana University Kokomo) went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and two singles. Bo Yaworski (Mitchell College) went 2 for 3 with a single in the eighth that drove in two runs giving the Jackrabbits the lead. Kyle Seebach (Northern Illinois University) made his first appearance of the season for the Rivets throwing six innings with eight strikeouts and giving up only one hit.

Fond du lac Dock Spiders 10, Wausau Woodchucks 2

The Fond du lac Dock Spiders took their second win of the season against the Wausau Woodchucks with a 10-2 victory. Nick Mitchell (Western Illinois University) continued his success at the plate with a single in the fifth inning and a double in the seventh scoring two runs. Cole Messina (University of South Carolina) went 2 for 4 at the plate driving in the first run of the sixth inning with a double to right field. Luke Novitske (California State University, East Bay) contributed to the lead with a single, scoring two runs in the sixth inning and 3 RBI overall.
