For week two of the Northwoods League, seven teams sweep their two games series. As the St.Cloud Rox take down the Mankato MoonDogs 3-0 they remain undefeated for their seventh game in a row. Monday’s games also consisted of a thrilling eleven inning game with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafter sweeping the Wausau Woodchucks 3-1.

Kalamazoo Growlers 12, Traverse City Pit Spitters 4

The Kalamazoo Growlers split the series with the Traverse City Pit Spitters 12-4. Dylan Freeman (University of Montevallo) had the start on the mound throwing five innings with seven strikeouts and allowed three runs to score. Cole Russo (University of Central Florida) got the Growlers going with a three run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Rosso homered again in the third with back to back home runs earning player of the night.

Rockford Rivets 9, Kokomo Jackrabbits 5

The Rockford Rivets defeated the Kokomo Jackrabbits 9-5 splitting the series. After the Jackrabbits struck first with two runs the Rivets responded scoring four runs in the third inning led by Jake Bilotta (Rockford University) who ripped a two run double. Bilotta went 3 for 4 with two RBI. Ty Crittenberger (Western Kentucky) also contributed with three hits including an RBI single in the fourth inning.

Battle Creek Battle Jacks 6, Kenosha Kingfish 1

The Battle Creek Battle Jacks took down the Kenosha Kingfish 6-1 to win the series. The Battle Jacks got the bats going early, scoring five runs with a double by Patricks Mills (Indiana University Kokomo) for the second double of the inning. Mills had two hits, one stolen base and led the team with three RBI. The pitching staff for the Battle Jacks gave up six hits, combined with eight strikeouts and allowed only one run to score with Caleb Lanoux (Middle Georgia State University) with the win on the mound.

Green Bay Rockers 5, Madison Mallards 2

The Green Bay Rockers split the series with the Madison Mallards winning 5-2. With a scoreless game leading to the top of the third with runners on first and third Tristian Garcia (Western Kentucky) drove a double to left field to score the first run of the game. The Rockers scored two more that inning on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Kyle Schroedle (Crown College). Glen Miller (Eastern Michigan University) scored the final run of the game for the Rockers with an RBI single for his second hit of the game.

Waterloo Bucks 10, Eau Claire Express 4 

For another series split of the night, The Waterloo Bucks defeated the Eau Claire Express 10-4. Caleb Hill (Temple College) had a stellar night at the plate going 4 for 5 with two singles, two doubles and three RBI. Ryan Guardino (Tennessee Tech University) also contributed to getting on base with three singles and two stolen bases. Kaleb Knox (Nebraska Wesleyan University) had the final hit of the game with a two run double in the bottom of the eighth. Knox went 2 for 5 with three RBI.

La Crosse Loggers 6, Rochester Honkers 2

The La Crosse Loggers take game two of the series against the Rochester Honkers 6-2. Blaise Priester (Louisiana State University) and Landon Wallace (University of Nevada, Reno) both led their team with 3 hits including a single, double and home run each. Xavier Casserilla (Wichita State University) singled to first base twice to score each time and had one stolen base. Russel Derbyshire (Mineral Area College) had the win on the mound, throwing the sixth inning, striking out all three batters.

Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 5, Lakeshore Chinooks 4

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders rally back to win the series against the Lakeshore Chinooks 5-4. Heading into the top of the eighth inning down by one run Evan Stone (University of South Carolina) drove in the tying run of the game with a sac fly. Stone led the team with three hits, one RBI and one walk. Up at bat next, Cole Messina (University of South Carolina) doubled to the right fielder to score the final run of the game.

Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 3, Wausau Woodchucks 1

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters take the win against the Wausau Woodchucks 3-1 for the second night in a row. In a tied game heading into the eleventh inning Brenden Bobo (California State University, Fullerton) drove a double to center field to score the first run of the inning. Bobo led his team with two hits. The final run of the inning was scored on an error by the Woodchucks. Xavier Rivas (University of Indianapolis) started the game throwing three innings with six strikeouts and gave up only one hit.

Duluth Huskies 10, Bismarck Larks 6

The Duluth Huskies sweep the Bismarck Larks 10-6. Jake Hamilton (Oklahoma Baptist University) started the game for the Huskies throwing a total of five innings with 10 strikeouts and gaving up only two hits along with one run to score. His stellar performance was awarded with the Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night. On the offensive side, Jd Rogers (Vanderbilt University) led his team with three hits including a single, double, triple and three RBI.

St.Cloud Rox 3, Mankato MoonDogs 0

For their seventh win in a row the St.Cloud Rox sweep the Mankato MoonDogs. Hunter Day (North Iowa Area Community College) had the win on the mound throwing a scoreless seven innings, giving up only four hits and walking one batter. The Rox scored their final run of the game in the ninth inning with a triple by Albert Choi (New Jersey Institute of Technology) for his second hit of the night.

Willmar Stingers 9, Minnesota Mud Puppies 4

The Willmar Stingers win their second game against the Minnesota Mud Puppies 9-4. The Stingers had an explosive first inning starting with an RBI single by Sam Daly (Willamette University). Daly went 3 for 5 at the plate with two singles, a double and two RBI. To follow up the first inning, Elias Stevens (Maryville University) blasted a home run in the second scoring two runs. Stevens went 2 for 5 with a single, home run and 3 RBI.
