The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters rallied to win both of their seven inning games to take the series against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. The Wausau Woodchucks had an outstanding performance on defense and offense with two of their players earning Northwoods League awards tonight. The St.Cloud Rox and Eau Claire Express remain undefeated as they won another series.
Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 10, Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 6
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters rallied back to take game one of the series against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 10-6. The Rafters scored their first three runs in the first inning with a home run by Brendan Bobo (California State University, Fullerton). Bobo went two for three with a double and three RBI. Nate Nankil (California State University, Fullerton) had two hits as well with a double, triple and three RBI. Garrett Broussard (Utah Valley University) had the second home run of the game with two RBI. Cam Nolet (Wilson College) had the win on the mound throwing four innings with three strikeouts.
Green Bay Rockers 4, Rockford Rivets 3
The Green Bay Rockers won the first game of the series in a 12 inning victory against the Rockford Rivets 4-3. Tristian Garcia (Western Kentucky), Keniel De Leon (Long Island University – Brooklyn) and Danny Wuestenfeld (Central Michigan University) all had two hits with a double. Owen Jackson (University of Toledo) had the only home run for his team in the bottom of the first to start the game. Luke Singleton (Cowley Community College) started the game throwing four innings giving up only one hit. The Rockers scored their final run in the bottom of the 12th with an RBI walk by Jake Berg (Jacksonville University).
Wausau Woodchucks 23, Kalamazoo Growlers 5
The Wausau Woodchucks defeated the Kalamazoo Growlers 23-5. The Woodchucks scored in almost every inning with ten runs in the seventh. Kevin Kilpatrick (University of Houston) drove in the first runs of the game with a double in the bottom of the first. Kilpatrick had three hits with two doubles, two walks and four RBI. Ryan Sepede (Brigham Young University) earned Northwoods League Player of the Night with two home runs, two walks and four RBI. Ben Abernathy (West Virginia University) earned Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night throwing six innings with six strikeouts allowing zero runs to score.
St.Cloud Rox 5, Duluth Huskies 3
The St.Cloud Rox won their fifth game in a row against the Duluth Huskies 5-3. The Rox rallied back in the fifth inning to tie the game with an RBI single by Brice Matthews (University of Nebraska). Jack Steil (North Dakota State University) hit three singles, scoring twice as he reached base. John Nett (St. Cloud State University) reached base three times with two hits, a walk and one RBI. Carson Keithley (Texas State University) had the win on the mound throwing the first five innings with four strikeouts allowing two runs to score.
Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 9, Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 3
For their second seven inning game of the day the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters won the series against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 9-3. The Rafters scored six runs in the first inning to start the game. Nate Nankil (Texas State University) led the team with two hits including a triple, one RBI and scored each time he reached base. Levi Jensen (University of North Alabama) had two hits with a walk scoring twice as he reached first. Jake Dahle (Utah Tech) had the win on the mound throwing five innings with three strikeouts. The Rafters combined with a total of 10 hits to end the game.
Kenosha Kingfish 11, Battle Creek Battle Jacks 4
The Kenosha Kingfish defeated the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 11-4 for the first game of the series. The Kingfish rallied back to score four runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Luke Ellis (University of Mississippi) started the game on the mound throwing 4.2 innings with eight strikeouts giving up two hits. Gage Williams (Wichita State University) had one hit with three RBI. Brady Counsell (University of Minnesota) reached base three times with two hits, a double, one walk and two RBI. The Kingfish had a total of 12 hits with seven walks to receive the win.
Traverse City Pit Spitters 5, Kokomo Jackrabbits 1
The Traverse City Pit Spitters won their third game in a row against the Kokomo Jackrabbits 5-1. The Pit Spitters scored three runs in the fourth inning with an RBI triple by Brennen Dorighi (Wofford College) and sac fly by Sam Tackett (Virginia Tech). Christian Beal (University of Richmond) reached base four times with a hit, four walks and a stolen base. Morgan Lunceford (University of San Diego) started the game throwing six innings with four strikeouts allowing zero runs to score, earning the win on the mound.
Rochester Honkers 9, La Crosse Loggers 8
The Rochester Honkers started the series off with a win against the La Crosse Loggers 9-8. The Honkers scored five runs in the third inning to take the lead. Tyler White (California State University, Long Beach) led the offense with three hits including a double, RBI and a stolen base. Dario Gomez (University of Nevada, Reno) contributed with two hits, a double, an RBI and a stolen base. The Honkers had a total of ten hits with five stolen bases. Sebastian Mejia (Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi) came into the game in the ninth inning to finish the game giving up no hits.
Willmar Stingers 8, Mankato MoonDogs 1
The Willmar Stingers took down the Mankato MoonDogs 8-1. The Stingers struck first, scoring on a double hit by Will Hodo (University of Alabama). Hodo had two doubles with two walks and an RBI. Scoring six runs in the seventh inning the Stingers provided insurance runs to finish the game. Zac Corbin (Kennesaw State University) had two hits with a double, two RBI and a stolen base. Jack Zigan (Minnesota State University, Mankato) had the win on the mound throwing six innings with two strikeouts allowing only one run to score. The Stingers combined for 11 hits with no errors on the field.
Madison Mallards 9, Lakeshore Chinooks 8
The Madison Mallards bounced back to take down the Lakeshore Chinooks 9-8. The Mallards rallied throughout the game, scoring their final run in the top of the ninth inning with an RBI double by Scott Shaw (Rider University). Shaw had one hit with two walks and one stolen base. J.J Wetherholt (West Virginia University) led the team with two hits, a home run and four RBI. Payton Smith (Georgia Gwinnett College) had the only triple of the game with two RBI. Bryce Woody (Lincoln Memorial University) had the win on the mound throwing a scoreless two innings with six strikeouts and did not give up a hit.
Eau Claire Express 8, Bismarck Larks 4
The Eau Claire Express rallied back to win the first game of the series against the Bismarck Larks 8-4. In a ten inning game the Express scored four runs in the top of the 10th to take the lead. Joe York (California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) led the team with two hits and five RBI. Cadyn Schwabe (North Dakota State University) reached base three times with two hits and a hit by pitch scoring each time. Trevor Haskins (Stanford University) had one hit with two RBI and a stolen base. Matt Helwig (Lewis University) had the win on the mound throwing the last inning with three strikeouts.
