As the last week of Northwoods League Games begin, the Kenosha Kingfish and Wausau Woodchucks won both of their games today to sweep their double header. The Woodchucks now have a six game win streak and are behind the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in the Great Lakes West. The Rafters have won eight of their past ten games to lead the league with 24 wins. 

Kenosha Kingfish 8, Rockford Rivets 0

The Kenosha Kingfish took down the Rockford Rivets 8-0. The Kingfish scored five runs in the fifth inning with an RBI single by Brayden Gorecki (University of Illinois at Springfield), Brady Counsell (University of Minnesota) and Connor Hincks. Gorecki, Counsell and Hincks each had two hits on the night with a double and two RBI by Counsell. Kyler Carmack (Notre Dame) led the offense with three hits and a double, scoring twice as he reached base. Luke Pfeiffer (Trinity University) earned the win on the mound throwing 6.1 innings with six strikeouts allowing zero runs to score. The Kingfish had 15 hits to win their seven inning game. 

Wausau Woodchucks 4, Lakeshore Chinooks 3

The Wausau Woodchucks rallied back to defeat the Lakeshore Chinooks 4-3. Logan Snow (Menlo College) led the team throwing three innings with six strikeouts giving up only three hits to earn the win on the mound. The Woodchucks scored first with an RBI double by Chase Hug (University of Evansville). Hug had one, a walk and two RBI. Garrett Hill (North Dakota State University) had the only multi-hit game for his team with two singles. The Woodchucks generated six hits to earn their sixth win in a row. 

Kalamazoo Growlers 9, Kokomo Jackrabbits 5

The Kalamazoo Growlers took the first game of the series against the Kokomo Jackrabbits 9-5. The Growlers scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning with an RBI triple by Anthony Stephan (University of Virginia) and a grand slam by Myles Beale (Northwood University) to walk off the game. Stephan had three hits, two RBI and a walk. Ryan Dykstra (Oakland University) and Casen Taggart (Centralia College) each had two hits with a walk and two RBI by Taggart. Tyler Johnson (Alma College) threw the eighth inning to hold the Jackrabbits with three strikeouts. The Growlers had nine hits with seven walks to earn their 10th win. 

Battle Creek Battle Jacks 8, Traverse City Pit Spitters 3

For their 16th win of the season, the Battle Creek Battle Jacks defeated the Traverse City Pit Spitters 8-3. Raymond Hilbrich (Purdue Northwest) led the team with three hits including a double and hit by pitch to score once. Aaron Dolney (Eastern Michigan University) also had three hits with one RBI scoring each time he reached base. Jackson Braden (Middle Georgia State University) was the starting pitcher throwing 6.2 innings with six strikeouts to earn the win on the mound. Brayden Childress (Southern Illinois University) came into the game to throw the next 1.2 innings with two strikeouts. 

Green Bay Rockers 5, Madison Mallards 4

The Green Bay Rockers started the series off with a 5-4 victory against the Madison Mallards. Kyle Stoddard (Lindenwood University) had a great night on the mound throwing 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts allowing zero runs to score and giving up only three hits. The Rockers scored two runs in the second inning with an RBI double by Brett Blair (Stanford University) and single by Trisitin Garcia (Western Kentucky). Danny Wuestenfeld (Central Michigan University) reached base twice with a hit and a walk, scoring each time. The Rockers generated six hits with five walks to take the win. 

Wausau Woodchucks 3, Lakeshore Chinooks 1

The Wausau Woodchucks won their second game of the day to sweep the Lakeshore Chinooks 3-1. Matt Milner (Southwestern Oklahoma State University) earned Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night throwing a complete seven inning game with nine strikeouts. The Woodchucks scored their three runs in the fifth inning with two RBI singles by Jc Ng (Pomona-Pitzer) and Tyler Cox (Eckerd College). Ng reached base three times with two hits and a walk, driving in one run with a stolen base. Cox had one hit with two RBI. 

Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 7, Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 6

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters won their 24th game as they defeated the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 7-6. The Rafters struck first, scoring three runs in the second inning. With a tied score going into the bottom of the 10th inning Andrew Semo (University of San Diego) drove a ball to the outfield to walk off the game. Semo had one hit with two walks and one RBI. Colin Tuft (University of Virginia) led the offense with three hits, one RBI and two stolen bases. Preston Howey (Saint Mary’s College) closed the game throwing the last two innings with two strikeouts to earn the win on the mound. 

La Crosse Loggers 12, Willmar Stingers 9

The La Crosse Loggers defeated the Willmar Stingers 12-9 for their first win of the series. The La Crosse Loggers rallied back to score three runs in the bottom of the first inning with a home run by Jack Haley (California State University, Fullerton). Haley had two hits with three RBI. The Loggers scored six more runs in the second inning to advance their lead. Aidan Sweatt (University of North Florida) led the offense and reached base five times with three hits, two walks and three RBI. Bill Ralston (St. Mary’s College) and Ricky Reeth (Notre Dame) contrived with a double scoring as they reached second. 

St.Cloud Rox 9, Waterloo Bucks 3

The St.Cloud Rox rallied back to defeat the Waterloo Bucks 10-3. With an explosive ninth inning, the Rox scored six runs to take the lead. Magnum Hoftetter (University of Hawaii), John Nett (St. Cloud State University), Trevor Austin (Mercer University) and Ike Mezzenga (University of Minnesota) each had an RBI single in the top of the ninth. Austin had two hits with three walks. Brandon Jaenke (Viterbo University) started the game throwing the first five innings with six strikeouts allowing one run to score. Derek Lilledahl (Minnesota State University, Mankato) earned the win on the mound throwing .2 innings with two strikeouts. 

Eau Claire Express 12, Duluth Huskies 5

The Eau Claire Express generated 20 hits with zero errors on the field to take the first win of the series against the Duluth Huskies 12-5. Reed Latimer (University of Montevallo) led the team with five hits including two doubles and one RBI. Clay Conn (University of Illinois at Chicago) had four hits with a walk, one stolen base and one RBI. Jake Sapien (Stanford University) and Charlie Szykowny (University of Wisconsin – Stout) each had two hits with a double and three RBI combined. Ethan Louthan (Oklahoma College-Tonkawa) earned the win throwing the first five innings with three strikeouts. The Eau Claire Express currently have a three game win streak to lead their region. 

Mankato MoonDogs 6, Rochester Honkers 4

The Mankato MoonDogs won their third game in a row as they defeated the Rochester Honkers 6-4. Charles McAdoo (San Jose State University) led the offense going four for four at the plate with two doubles, a walk and one RBI. Zach Stroh (Minnesota State University, Mankato) contributed with one hit and two RBI. Mikey Gottschalk (Minnesota State University, Mankato) had a single in his first at bat finishing the night with two hits and a stolen base. Owen Little (Southwest Tennessee Community College) held the Honkers throwing 5.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts giving up only three hits. The MoonDogs had ten hits to take the win. 

Kenosha Kingfish 1, Rockford Rivets 0

The Kenosha Kingfish swept the Rockford Rivets 1-0 for their second game of the day. Connor Blake (Illinois Tech) threw a complete seven inning game with seven strikeouts giving up only three hits. Nick Iannantone drove (East Tennessee State University) in the only run of the game with a double for the only hit. The Kingfish have won six of their past 10 games and now have a two game win streak.
