The Northwoods League featured an 12 game slate starting with a shutout 14-0 win from the Kalamazoo Growlers. The Wausau Woodchucks upset the Green Bay Rockers who were undefeated going into day five and now have a 4-1 record.

Kokomo 0, Kalamazoo 14

Kalamazoo takes the first game of the series after scoring 12 runs on 11 hits against the Kokomo Jackrabbits. The Growlers are now 3-2 on the season.

Joey Winters (Ottawa University), Korbin Griffin (Kalamazoo Valley Community College), and Kevin Krill (Oakland) each went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Ben Bach (Tiffin University) went 2-for-3 with a three RBI and a double, leading the Growlers offense in today’s matchup. Griffin went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double. John Kramer (Mississippi) got his first hit of the season scoring two runs. Eamon Horwedel (Michigan) started the game throwing 7 innings with 6 strikeouts giving up 4 hits and allowing 0 runs to score.

Traverse City 11, Kenosha 3

The Pit Spitters took game one of the series against the Kenosha Kingfish. They had an explosive first inning on offense scoring seven runs off five hits to start. They now have their fourth win of the season.

The first six batters of the Pit Spitters lineup reached base in the first inning, scoring on singles from Kyle Hayes (Kirkwood Community College), Riley Frost (North Georgia), Devin Hukill (Ashland University), and Colin Summerhill (Northern Illinois). Summerhill was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Seven batters tallied one RBI on the day. Jayden Dentler (Northwood University) started the game throwing 7 innings with 4 strikeouts giving up 3 hits and allowing 1 run to score.

Madison 3, Lakeshore 7

The Lakeshore Chinooks took game one of the series against the Madison Mallards who were 3-1 going into this game and are now 3-2.

The Chinooks offense capitalized on Lakeshore first after scoring two in the second, then opened up their lead after a five run seventh to secure the win. Taeg Gollert (Missouri St) went 2-for-4 on the night with two runs and a double. Nate Mieszkowski (Missouri Southern St) was 2-for-3 with RBI, leading the team this evening. Thomas Harper (Illinois St) started the game throwing 6 innings with o strikeouts giving up 3 hits and allowing 3 runs to score.

Battle Creek 1, Rockford 6

The Rockford Rivets defeat the Battle Jacks, getting their second win of the season after winning 6-1 in today’s matchup.

Jack Sheri (Creighton )was 3-for-4 with a double and Carson Roberts (Illinois – Chicago) went 2-for-4 on the evening. Five different players in the Rivets lineup contributed to a run in tonight’s contest. Brett Sears (Nebraska) started the game throwing 5 innings with 8 strikeouts – giving up only 3 hits and allowing 1 run to score.

Wausau 7 , Green Bay 4

The Wausau Woodchucks earned the win after upsetting and shutting down the Green Bay Rockers, the only undefeated team in the league going into today’s game.

Dalton Pearson (Georgia St) went 3-for-4 with a home run, 3 RBI and two runs scored, leading the Woodchucks offense to victory this evening. Austin Gomm went 1-for-3 with a double and 1 RBI. Travis Lutz (Bradley) started the game throwing 2 innings with 3 strikeouts giving up 3 hits and allowing 1 run to score.

Wisconsin 6, Fond du Lac 9

Fond du Lock defeated Wisconsin 9-6 in an intense nine inning matchup. They earned their first win of the season.

Jack Peterson (Trinity) and Jake Surane (Wisconsin -Oshkosh) each had an RBI on the evening. Paul Smith was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI on the night. Mason Hill (Aquinas College) gets the win after throwing 3 innings with four strikeouts giving up 2 hits and allowing 1 run to score.

Mankato 1, Rochester 2

Rochester comes out on top with a win after a tight 2-1 matchup against the Mankato Moondogs, winning the first game of the two game series.

Jakob Guardado (Pasadena City) led the offense going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI with a double. Him and Chase Spencer (United States Air Force Academy)scored the games only two runs for the Honkers. Matthew Brock (San Joaquin Delta College) started the game throwing 5.2 innings with 5 strikeouts giving up 2 hits and allowing 1 run to score.

Thunder Bay 14, Waterloo 16

The Waterloo Bucks takes their lead back after an intense game to  defeat the Thunder Bay Border Cats in a tight contest to conclude the evening.

Blake Burris (Arkansas St) went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI on the evening. Michael Lippe (Louisville) was 3-for-6 with two doubles and 4 RBI to lead the offense tonight. Jack Nathan (High Point) started the game throwing 3 innings with 1 strikeout giving up 2 hits and allowing 6 runs to score.

Minot 6, Duluth 8

The Huskies tack on their first win of the season after defeating the Minot Hot Tots 8-6. They are now 1-2 on the season.

Tyler Leroy (Arizona Western College) was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for the Huskies. Carson Applegate (Kentucky) was also 2-for-3 and led the team in RBI with 3 on the night. Devin Dodson (University of Colorado at Colorado Springs) started the game throwing 6 innings with 5 strikeouts giving up 4 hits and allowing 1 run to score.

Willmar 5, Bismarck 2

The Willmar Stingers took down the Bismarck Larks 3-0 to win the first game of the series.

Zach Stroh (Minnesota St University – Mankato) was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI in tonight’s contest. Ray Cebulski (Point Loma Nazarene University) started the game throwing five innings allowing zero runs to score and struck out 7 batters. The Stingers combined a total of 7 hits for their second victory of the second half of the season.

Minnesota 4 , Eau Claire 10

The Eau Claire Express earn the win as they defeated the Minnesota Mud Puppies 5-3. Eau Claire is now 2-3 on the season.

Teige Lethert (Iowa Central Community College) and Isaac Nett (Southwest Minnesota St) both led the Express going 2-for-4 with a homerun, two RBI and one run scored. Lance Lauve (Southeastern Louisiana) started the game throwing 4.2 innings with 8 strikeouts giving up 3 hits and allowing 3 runs to score.

La Crosse 8 , St. Cloud 13

St. Cloud wins the first game of the series against the La Crosse Loggers after jumping on them early with eleven runs in the first two innings of the game.

Nathan Rose (Bowling Green )went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI on the evening, leading the offense. Hunter Day (Tarleton St) started the game throwing 6 innings with 4 strikeouts giving up 7 hits and allowing 3 runs to score.
