The Rockford Rivets and the Traverse City Pit Spitters are on a four game win streak after sweeping their series against Kokomo and Fond du Lac. Seven teams split their series on the weekend and find their way back into the win column going into week three. The Minot Hot Tots earned their first home game win in franchise history after defeating the Eau Claire Express 5-0 Sunday evening.

Battle Creek 5, Kalamazoo 3

Battle Creek takes game two to defeat the Kalamazoo Growlers 5-3 Sunday afternoon.  The Battle Jacks scored five runs on eight hits with only two errors on the field.

Fisher Pyatt (Central Arizona) went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, with two runs scored. JT Sokolove (Illinois St) went 2-for-5 with one RBI. Brock Daniels (Missouri) went 2-for-4 with one walk and one run scored. Jacob Davis (Kalamazoo College) got the start throwing 7.1 innings – allowing five hits, one run, one walk, and four strikeouts.

Madison 4, Lakeshore 1

The Madison Mallards defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks 4-1 and win the series 2-0 this weekend. The Mallards are now 7-7 (.500) on the season.

Owen Jackson (Toled0) went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run. Jack Tucker (St. John’s) scored one run after going 2-for-4 at the plate today. Josh Wintroub (Augustana) earned the win after throwing six innings with zero hits, zero runs, one walk, and five strikeouts.

Green Bay 6, Kenosha 2

Green Bay finds their way back in the win column after splitting the series between the Kenosha Kingfish on Sunday. They head into week three with 7-7 (.500) record.

Jayson Jones (Arkansas) and Kyle West (Charleston) went 2-for-4 at the plate with one run scored. Max Mims (Southwestern) led the offense with RBI, tacking on two in a 1-for-3 effort after coming in to pitch hit later in the game. Christian Foutch (Arkansas) got the start throwing 3 innings – allowing one hit, one run, one walk, and two strikeouts. The pitching staff combined for five hits and eleven strikeouts.

Willmar 5, Waterloo 0

Willmar gets the shutout win again against the Waterloo Bucks, defeating them 5-0. They scored fives runs on nine hits with two errors on the field. They are leading the Great Plains West with a 10-2 record heading into week three of the season.

Jake Hjelle (Minnesota – Crookston) went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Kyle Payne (Northeast Nazarene) drove in one RBI on the day after going 1-for-2 at the plate with two walks. Mitch Gutknecht (Minnesota St- Mankato) earned the win after throwing 5 innings – allowing only one hit, zero runs, two walks, and six strikeouts.

La Crosse 2, Duluth 8

The Duluth Huskies wins thes series after taking game two against the La Crosse Loggers. They are now 7-5 on the season.

Joshua Duarte (Georgetown) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Murf Gray (Fresno St) went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run scored, leading the Huskies offense in game two. Alex Potter (Nebraska – Omaha) earned the win today after throwing 6 innings with three hits, one run, two walks, and two strikeouts.

Thunder Bay 7, St. Cloud 4

The Thunder Bay Border Cats take game two of their three game series against St. Cloud this afternoon. They scored seven runs on nine hits and had three errors on the field.

Zane Skansi (Creighton) led the team with two hits, going 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Logan Johnstone (Gonzaga) and Trey Lewis (South Alabama) each went 1-for-4 with one walk, two RBI, and one run. Eight batters in the Border Cats lineup had at least one hit this afternoon. Caleb Bunch (Ranger College) earned the win after throwing 8 innings – allowing three hits, two runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts.

Wausau 4, Wisconsin 1

The Wausau Woodchucks split the series against the Wisconsin Rapid Rafters after defeating them 4-1 Sunday afternoon. Both teams lead the Great Lakes West division with an 8-5 record.

Brent Widder (Evansville) went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI, and one run. Matt Del Sol (Grayson College) went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Jacob Schroeder (Illinois) went 1-for-3 one RBI and one run. Ethan Pecko (Towson) got the win for the Woodchucks after throwing 7 innings – allowing four hits, one run, one walk, and eleven strikeouts.

Kokomo 1, Rockford 10

The Rockford Rivets wins the series 2-0 after defeating the Kokomo Jackrabbits 10-1 Sunday afternoon. They scored twelve runs one ten hits and one error in the field. Rockford is now 9-5 on the season.

Jack Scheri (Creighton) went 2-for-5 with one run scored and Matthew Mebane (South Georgia St College) went 3-for-5 with two doubles. Michael Morse (Montevallo) got the start and win after throwing 6 innings- allowing only two hits, zero runs, two walks, and struck out three.

Fond du Lac 1, Traverse City 3

Traverse City sweeps the series against Fond du Lac after their 3-1 defeat Sunday afternoon. The Pit Spitters lead the Great Lakes East division with a 10-3 record.

Blake Bean (Madonna) went 2-for-4 with one run scored. Dylan Carey (Nebraska) also went 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI. Brendan Guciardo (Grand Valley St) tacked on two RBI, leading the Pit Spitters offense this afternoon. Carson Fischer (Davenport) got the start throwing 4 innings – allowing only one hit, one run, four walks, and struck out seven.

Mankato 20, Rochester 9

The Mankato MoonDogs break Rochester’s six game win streak after defeating them in a blowout 20-9 victory Sunday evening. The MoonDogs are now 6-7 on the season, working their way back in the win column.

Dustin Crenshaw (Grand Canyon) went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI, four walks, and three runs scored. Brendan Hord (Evansville) went 3-for-6 with a double, two RBI, and two runs. Jackson Cooke (Tennessee – Martin) went 3-for-6 with two doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Mikey Gottschalk (Minnesota St – Mankato) went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI, and four runs. Nolan Tichy (Massachusetts) led the offense with four RBI on the day with a home run. Derrick Smith (North Carolina St) got the start throwing 3 innings – allowing five hits, three runs, zero walks, and four strikeouts. Mankato’s pitching staff combined for eleven hits and twelve strikeouts. Each pitcher had four strikeouts on the evening, each sharing three innings.

Eau Claire 0, Minot 5

Minot gets a shutout win against the Eau Claire Express to split the series 1-1 on the weekend. They scored five runs on seven hits with zero errors on the field.

Travis Stapleton (Polk St College) went 2-for-2 with two home runs, three RBI, one walk, and two runs scored. Brannon Mondragon (Southeastern) went 2-for-4 with one run scored. Gage Yost (Minot St) earned the win throwing 6 innings – allowing three hits, zero runs, four walks, and struck out two.

Minnesota 9, Bismarck 14

The Bismarck Larks defeat the Minnesota Mud Puppies and split the series 1-1 after winning 14-9 Sunday evening. They scored fourteen runs on ten hits. The Larks are now 7-7 on the season.

Dillon Goetz (Skyline) went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two runs. Benjamin Rosengard (Rice) went 1-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. Trenton Rowan (Seward County Community College) went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and three runs scored. Carter Ross (Wichita St) started the game throwing 5 innings with nine hits, five runs, zero walks, and three strikeouts .
