The Northwoods League featured a two game slate that included a thrilling contest from the Great Plains All-Star game Tuesday evening. The Great Plains West and East tied the series 3-3 and ended the game in the seventh inning due to rain. Brandon Compton from the Duluth Huskies was named the 2023 NWL Great Plains All-Star Game Star of Stars.

 

Wausau 1, Madison 3

Jake Goolsby (Charlotte University) went 1-for-4 with a two run home run in the bottom of the first to take the early lead. Davis Hamilton (North Dakota St University) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single to right field, scoring another insurance run making it 3-0. Andres Kleinsek (Madison College) earned the win throwing 2.1 innings and allowed only two hits, one run, one walk, and one strikeout.

 

All Star Game

Great Plains East 3, Great Plains West 3

Brandon Compton (Arizona St) drilled a two run double to tie things up in the top of the seventh. He went 1-for-3 on the night. Calyn Halvorson (Utah Valley) went 1-for-2 with a double and run scored. Jake Gebb (California – Riverside), Daniel Willie (Montreat College), Will Droll (Pittsburgh), and Chaney Trout (Eastern Illinois) each struck out two batters in their short outings.

Kai Roberts (Utah) went 1-for-2 on the night with one run scored. Kyle Payne (Northwest Nazarene University) tallied one hit with one RBI after drilling a triple. Caleb Strack (Iowa) threw one inning and allowed only one hit and struck out two batters.
