Los Angeles Angels right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodriguez made his Major League debut Saturday afternoon in an 8-4 win against the New York Yankees at the new Yankee Stadium. The former Duluth Huskie struggled in his first outing allowing three runs, two earned, in two-thirds of an inning.

MoonDogs Sign Two Southpaws

The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce the signing of two players for the 2009 season. Junior pitcher Ryan Demmin of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (Oshkosh, WI), and sophomore pitcher Jimmy Patterson of Central Arizona College (Coolidge, AZ) have signed on to play for the MoonDogs.

Bobby Pritchett, a mid-season and postseason Northwoods League All-Star last season, will return to Wausau and play for the Wisconsin Woodchucks this summer. Pritchett is in his junior year at the University of Central Arkansas.

The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, has announced that Brite 95.3 FM KQMG will be the new home for Waterloo Bucks radio broadcasts in 2009. All of Waterloo's home and road games will be broadcast live over the airwaves as well as on the web.

Mallards Sign State Record Holder from New York

The Mallards are excited to announce the team has signed St. John’s freshman infielder Joe Panik, the New York State Class AA career hits champion (149) who played at John Jay High School in South Salem. The left-handed hitting youngster is the starting shortstop for the Red Storm this spring. Through the Red Storm's first 40 games (25-15) he is hitting .349 with ten doubles, five home runs, and 40 RBI.

The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced the signing of Scott McGough and Riley Bevill from the University of Oregon for the 2009 season. McGough and Bevill become the 3rd and 4th players from the Oregon Ducks to join the Honkers this summer.

Woodchucks Sign Wright State Outfielder

Ryan Ashe, a redshirt freshman at Wright State University, will be patrolling the outfield for the Wisconsin Woodchucks this summer. After redshirting last spring, Ashe is now seeing extensive playing time in centerfield for the Raiders (22-22).

The Duluth Huskies announced the recent signings of two more players to their 2009 roster. Nebraska Cornhuskers Pitcher Sean Yost and 3B Cody Asche have agreed to join the 2009 Huskies campaign.

Eau Claire Express field manager Dale Varsho announced the addition of three more players to his 2009 roster. The addition of sophomore Gera Sanchez and juniors Nick Greenwood and Robbie Knight brings the Express roster to 21.
