Schebler Stays Hot
Green Bay Bullfrog, Scott Schebler (Wichita State) had a huge day at the plate. He was 2-for-3 with a triple and his 5th home run of the season. He scored two runs and had an outstanding five RBI to help beat the Bucks 8-3. Schebler now leads the NWL in home runs while batting an impressive .314. He currently had 13 extra base hits on the season.
Gutierrez Helps River Bats to Victory
Designated hitter, Armando Gutierrez (Missouri Baptist), led the River Bats by going 3-for 5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Gutierrez is currently hitting .400 with ten hits on the season. His hot hitting performance helped the River Bats beat the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
Tanis Has Four Hit Day
Jake Tanis (Mercer) had an outstanding game for the Alexandria Beetles Thursday night. Tanis was 4-for-5 against the Mankato MoonDogs and not only scored two runs, but drove in three more. Tanis is currently hitting .400 with 11 RBI in only 40 games. Tanis hit .388 with an outstanding 22 home runs for the Bears this spring. He helped them to a 2010 championship in the Atlantic Sun as well.
Stover Helps Bucks Get Win
Pat Stover (Santa Clara) was 3-for-4 at the plate for the Waterloo Bucks Wednesday against the Eau Claire Express. Stover plated four RBI and also scored two runs. All three of Stover’s hits were doubles. Stover is hit .302 for Santa Clara in 2010 in 43 starts. He had 34 RBI 18 extra base hits in 182 at bats this year.
Nyistzor Leads River Bats
Steve Nyistzor (Rutgers) had a huge day at the plate today for the St. Cloud River Bats. The short-stop hit 4-for-6 on the day with three runs scored and also five RBI. Nyistzor was a double shy away from going for the cycle. He led the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers with a .410 average and 24 extra base hits.
Garver’s Great Day
Mitchell Garver (New Mexico) was 3-for-4 against the Willmar Stingers and helped St. Cloud to a 12-5 victory. Garver also had three runs scored, an RBI and a walk and helped the River Bats beat the Stingers for their second loss in two days. The River Bats catcher is currently hitting .444 for the River Bats.
Riggins Hitting Beats Rafters
Madison Mallard, Harold Riggins (North Carolina State), was instrumental in helping the Mallards beat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 8-2 at Witter Field. Riggins was 2-for-4 on the night with four RBI and one run scored. One of his hits was a homerun, his first of the season. Riggins hit .331 for the NC State Wolfpack this spring with 12 homeruns which was second on the team.
Smith Stays Hot
Jordan Smith (St. Cloud State) had an absolutely great performance on Saturday night helping the Stingers beat the Thunder Bay Border Cats 12-7. Smith finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. Smith finished the 2010 St. Cloud season at .457 batting average for the Huskies and an amazing 43 extra base hits. He also had 17 stolen bases as a freshman with and fielding percentage of .991. Smith recently hit the first home run in Willmar Stingers franchise history.
Pellegrino Has Huge Day at the Plate
Catcher Dan Pellegrino (California Riverside) had one of the best offensive nights in the NWL this 2010 season. Pellegrino went 4-for-5 with one run scored and an amazing six RBI. He also homered to raise his batting average to .286. The Riverside catcher hit .283 this season in 24 games and had a .988 fielding percentage for the Highlanders.
Kauten Drives in Runs for Bombers
The Battle Creek Bombers beat the Madison Mallards 10-8 and were led by Brett Kauten (Spring Arbor). Kauten had a huge day at the plate going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. He also had a walk. Kauten has helped the Bombers win their last two games in a row.
Gonzalez Has Great Game
Eduardo Gonzalez (Alcorn State) helped Willmar score 14 runs against the Rochester Honkers Wednesday night. The first basemen went 3-for-4 with one run scored and three RBI. Gonzalez had two doubles to go along with a hit by pitch. The Florida native is currently hitting .310 for the Stingers. During his sophomore season at Alcorn State he hit .350 with 26 extra base hits and 53 RBI.
Bruno Stays Hot at the Plate
Designate hitter, Jamie Bruno (Louisiana State), was 2-for-4 Tuesday night to help beat the Eau Claire Express 7-3. Bruno hit his 3rd homerun of the season and two RBI. The lefty is currently hitting .314 with ten RBI in nine games played. This is Bruno’s 3rd two-hit game of the short 2010 season and continues his seven game hit streak.
