Gates Two Homers Gives Loggers 5th Straight W
Offensively the star for La Crosse was Aaron Gates (Pepperdine) once again. Gates went 2-4 with two home runs and five RBI's. Gates slugged a two-run homer in the fourth inning and a three-run shot to extend the Loggers lead to 9-0 in the 7th inning where it would finish.

Wickens 4 Hits, 4 Stolen Bases Lead Lunkers
Stephen Wickens (Florida Gulf Coast) had a huge day at the plate for the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, an RBI and four stolen bases. Brainerd knocked off Rochester 6-1.
Renda A Perfect 5-5 In Canada
Tony Renda (Cal-Berkeley) collected five hits for the St. Cloud River Bats. Renda doubled twice, knocked in two and scored three times in the River Bat victory over Thunder Bay.
Womack’s Two Homers Lead Huskies Rout
Jared Womack (Oklahoma State) led the Duluth Huskies Sunday by swatting two home runs, a double and scoring three runs in their 12-3 rout of the St. Cloud River Bats.
Roundy Cycle Fuels Rochester Win
The NWL’s leading hitter (.402 Avg.), Rance Roundy (UNLV), hit for the cycle against Thunder Bay to help the Honkers get back in the win column. His four hits and four RBI paced Rochester to a 9-2 win. Roundy delivered a single in the first inning and a RBI double in the third that tied the game at 1-1, but the biggest piece of his cycle came in the fifth. Roundy crushed his fourth homer of the year to give Rochester a 3-1 lead. He completed the cycle with a triple in the 7th inning. It was the 8th time in NWL History a player has hit for the cycle.
Roberson’s 5 RBI Helps Beetles To 7th Straight Victory
Tim Roberson (Florida Gulf Coast) knocked in five runs and scored twice for the Alexandria Beetles in their 10-6 victory over the Rochester Honkers. Roberson launched a three-run home run to go along with a RBI groundout and a sac fly. With the victory the Beetles broke a franchise record with their 7th straight win.
Argo Leads Waterloo Comeback In La Crosse
Willie Argo (Illinois) had three hits, scored three runs and had an RBI to lead the Bucks to a come-from-behind victory over the La Crosse Loggers, 9-6. Argo had an RBI single in the eighth to help secure the comeback for the Bucks. He also had a double and stole a base.
Brantly Gets Loggers Started
Robert Brantly (UC-Riverside) got things going early for the La Crosse Loggers with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. The Loggers went on to defeat the Madison Mallards 5-3 to move within a half game of second place in the South Division. Brantly finished 2-4 with the run scored and two RBI's. Brantly was also named NWL Player of the Night on June 20th.
Sequeira Helps Honkers To Doubleheader Sweep
P.J. Sequeira (Oral Roberts) and the rest of his Rochester Honkers had a big day, sweeping a double-header against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. Sequeira went a combined 5-7 with a double, home run, hit-by-pitch, three runs and four RBI's.
Giller Crushes Go-Ahead Grand Slam For Waterloo
With two outs and the bases loaded in the eighth inning and the game tied Michael Giller (Illinois) waited the count out to 3-2 and then delivered the pitch over the right field wall for a 9-5 lead for the Waterloo Bucks. Giller ended the evening with two hits and five at-bats, sparking a team offensive output that featured seven hits. Despite Giller's heroics the South Division leading Eau Claire Express would answer with a 6-run top of the ninth to claim the victory. Giller was named the NWL Player of the Night on June 18th after delivering another two-strike, two-out clutch hit for the Bucks; a double that scored the tying run in a Waterloo victory.
Mutcheson Leads ‘Chucks to Victory
Leading the way for Wisconsin in their 4-2 victory over La Crosse was Mike Mutcheson who was 2-4 with a run scored. Mutcheson (New Mexico JC) had two of the Woodchucks five doubles on the night.
Brantly Leads Loggers Over ‘Chucks In Extras
Robert Brantly (UC-Riverside) had a solid night for La Crosse going 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, including the game winner in the 10th inning of the Loggers 5-4 win over Wisconsin. The catcher had a double and a sacrifice fly that tied the game in the 5th inning.
