St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox held off the rain and the offense of the Rochester Honkers in Monday Night’s contest as they defeated Rochester 2-0 at Joe Faber Field. Despite the game starting late and a fourth inning delay due to rain, the teams were able to play all nine innings as the Rox scored twice after the rain delay to pick up their third win in as many days.
For the Rox, their first run of the game came immediately following the delay as Kade Scivicque led off the fourth inning with a single and later scored on a fielder’s choice from Seth Heck to give the Rox the lead. Scivicque finished the night 2-for-4 for the Rox with a run scored and an RBI as both teams finished the game with four hits.
Nick Jensen-Clagg made his third start of the year for the Rox, going the first four innings and giving up two hits while striking out two to earn the no-decision. He was relieved by Trevor Charpie in the fifth inning, who threw the next three innings while keeping the shutout intact to pick up the victory (2-1) on the mound.
The Rox added their final run in the eighth inning off an RBI double from Scivicque, scoring Chris Paul who reached base earlier in the inning off a hit-by-pitch. The two-run lead was enough for Ben Lumsden to close the game as he threw the last two innings while striking out two to pick up his first save of the season.
