The St. Cloud Rox announced the signing of four more players for the 2015 season today. The list includes University of Kentucky teammates Marcus Carson and Zach Pop, Sheldon Miks from St. Cloud State University and Connor Crane from McNeese State University.
Carson is a 5’8” sophomore outfielder from the University of Kentucky. Last summer he played for the Amsterdam Mohawks in the Perfect Game Collegiate League where he was names to the All-PGCBL post season team and started in centerfield in the all-star game. On the summer he batted .346 with 38 runs scored and 14 stolen bases.
Pop, a 6’4” freshman at the University of Kentucky, is a right-handed pitcher. He was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 23rd round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. Pop, a Brampton, Ontario native, was a member of the Canadian Junior National Team. He has appeared in eight games for the Wildcats, throwing 10.1 innings.
Miks is a 6’4” freshman left-handed pitcher at St. Cloud State University. He is a graduate of Shakopee High School where he was a two time all-state award winner. This season for the Huskies Miks has a 6-0 record with a 1.20 ERA in 52.1 innings pitched. He has thrown a team high four complete games.
Crane, a 6’3” junior from McNeese State University, plays primarily first and third base. In 39 games this season for the Cowboys he is batting .295 with six homeruns and 29 runs batted in. In the field Crane has a .997 fielding percentage, having committed only one error in 377 chances. Last summer he played for the Okotoles Dawgs in the Western Major Baseball League where he earned all-league first team honors.
The Rox now have 22 players signed for the 2015 season. Field Manager Augie Rodriguez, as well as the Rox organization will continue to build the roster for the 2015 season.
The Rox home opener is Saturday, May 30th at Joe Faber Field as the Rox take on the Thunder Bay Border Cats at 7:05p.m. There will be a post-game fireworks show presented by Coborn’s.
