Mankato, MN – St. Cloud (7-0) continued its best start in franchise history with a 3-0 shutout victory over Mankato (5-3) on Monday night.

Hunter Day (Northern Iowa Area CC) had another stellar outing on the mound, tossing seven shutout frames on the mound. Day induced three separate double plays and only allowed four hits in his second win of the year.

Chase Grillo (Washington State) earned his second save of the season with four outs in the eighth and ninth. Grillo is now through three-and-two-thirds scoreless innings on the mound.

In his debut, Albert Choi (NJIT) had two extra-base hits, including a double in the first at-bat of the game. Choi extended the Rox lead to 3-0 in the ninth with an RBI triple to left-center.

Magnum Hofstetter (Hawai’i) helped the Rox get out to the lead early in the pitcher’s duel. Hofstetter drove in St. Cloud’s first run of the game in the fourth and then came in to score off an RBI single from Ethan Mann (New Mexico State) in the seventh.

St. Cloud returns home on Wednesday to face Bismarck in the first of a five-game homestand. First pitch from Joe Faber Field is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
