St. Cloud, MN – On Friday, the Northwoods League announced the rosters for the 2022 All-Star Game in Wisconsin Rapids on July 19th. With a 25-8 record and a Great Plains West First-Half Championship, St. Cloud had six players selected to the Great Plains team, the most across the league.

Pitchers Nathan Culley (Minnesota State-Mankato), Hunter Day (Tarleton State) and Chase Grillo (Washington State) were selected along with outfielder John Nett (St. Cloud State, third baseman Trevor Austin (Mercer) and first-baseman Charlie Condon (Georgia).

Culley has been one of St. Cloud’s top arms throughout the first half of the season, making five starts and posting a 3-0 record with 29 strikeouts with a 2.45 ERA. In Culley’s first four starts of the season, he allowed just two earned runs on 14 hits over 24 innings pitched.

Day has also been a lights-out starter on the mound for St. Cloud this year with a 2.42 ERA over his 26 innings on the bump. Day went 19 innings in his first three starts of the year, giving up just two runs on 10 hits.

Grillo joins the all-star roster as the league’s top closer with a league-leading ten saves on the season. In Grillo’s ten appearances, he has allowed no runs on just three hits and three walks while striking out 19 opposing batters.

Nett currently ranks in the top-ten in batting average across the entire Northwoods League with a .362 mark while also showing off some pop with three home runs. Nett has been fantastic on the basepaths as well, leading the entire league in runs scored with 44.

Austin slots in as the starting third baseman for the Great Plains after being a consistent force at the top of the Rox’ lineup and a sure-handed glove at the hot corner. Austin is second on the team with a .352 average this season and second on the squad with 28 RBI’s.

Condon has been one of the best power bats across the league this season. Hitting in the middle of the Rox order, Condon leads the Great Plains division in RBI’s this year with 36 while also hitting five home runs.

The Rox’ six selections and the rest of the Great Plains roster will be led by St. Cloud’s coaching staff; Brian Lewis, Alex Cox and Nick Studdard after the Rox held the top record in the division in the first half.

The Rox return home Tuesday, July 12th at 7:05 against the La Crosse Loggers.
