Rochester, MN – St. Cloud (29-8) scored three late runs to take a 6-3 victory from Rochester (17-21) on Saturday and finish off a second consecutive sweep.

The game was tied at three heading into the eighth and the Rox had two runners on with two outs. John Nett (St. Cloud State) stepped up with a huge double to right-center to give the Rox the lead and they never gave it back.

Nett came into score a few pitches later on a Trevor Austin (Mercer) single to left. Nett scored twice today, extending his Northwoods League-leading total to 48 so far this season.

The Rox got out to an early lead for the second straight day as Charlie Condon (Georgia) tripled in the first inning to drive in two runs. Condon became the first hitter in the Northwoods League this season to reach 40 RBI’s.

Late in the game, Tyler Cornett (West Texas A&M) settled things down for the Rox and earned the victory. Cornett went two-and-a-third innings and struck out four batters and finished off the win for St. Cloud.

St. Cloud continues its road trip on Sunday, starting a two-game series with the Duluth Huskies. First pitch from Wade Stadium is scheduled for 3:05 pm. The Rox return to Joe Faber Field on Tuesday to start a series with La Crosse. First pitch at the Rock Pile is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
