St. Cloud, MN – As the twenty-round 2022 MLB Draft took place over three days, seven former Rox players heard their names called.

Andrew Pintar was the first Rox player taken this year in the fifth round by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Pintar played for the Rox in 2020. He played in 33 games for the Rox where he had a .267 batting average with 21 runs scored, seven doubles, two home runs, and 14 RBI’s while stealing seven bases.

Riley Cornelio was the second Rox player taken. He was drafted in the seventh round by the Washington Nationals. Cornelio played in 10 games for the Rox in 2021 where he went 3-2 with a 2.41 ERA and 58 strikeouts. He led the team in strikeouts including playoffs. The most memorable outing for Cornelio was game one in the 2021 playoffs against Mankato where he set the Rox single-game strikeout record with 14.

Caleb Ricketts was also drafted in the seventh round, by the Philadelphia Phillies. Ricketts played for the Rox in 2021 where he was a NWL All-Star and Post-Season All-Star. Ricketts played in 45 games for the Rox where he had a .281 batting average with 23 runs scored, 12 doubles, two home runs, and 35 RBI’s.

Nate Peterson played two seasons with the Rox in 2020 and 2021. He was selected in the eighth round by the Milwaukee Brewers. Over two seasons with the Rox, Peterson had a 2-2 record with 1 save, 52 strikeouts and a 3.46 ERA. In Peterson’s last outing with the Rox, he struck out 12 batters over six innings with a win.

Dylan Nedved was selected in the ninth round by the San Diego Padres. Nedved played in four games for the Rox in 2021 with four hits, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Drew Garrett played for the Rox in 2019 and was selected in the 19th round by the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2019, Garrett played in 14 games, pitching 13 innings and striking out 18 batters.

Brendan Tinsman was selected in the 19th round by the Los Angeles Angels. Tinsman also played for the Rox in 2019 where he played in 27 games with a .250 batting average, four doubles, eight RBI’s, and 10 runs scored.

The Rox have had a total of 83 players drafted by Major League Baseball since 2012.
