ST. CLOUD, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (30-19) dropped game one of a two-game series against the Willmar Stingers (36-13) with a 2-0 final score, Thursday, July 20th. The Rox sit in second place in the Great Plains West division during the second half.
The starting pitcher for St. Cloud was Tommy Gross. Gross continues to impress, as he went 6.0 innings with four strikeouts and no earned runs. Gross has a 0.31 ERA over 29.1 innings pitched this season, recording 30 strikeouts.
Kyle Jackson had a hit, making it 40 out of 43 games this season where Jackson has reached base. Jackson has 40 hits and 41 walks this season. Haiden Hunt reached base twice in the leadoff spot for St. Cloud and has reached base 15 times over his first six games. Jackson Hauge had a hit, which gives him the team-lead with 52 hits.
Andrew Morones had 2.0 innings pitched, keeping the Rox in the game late by holding the Stingers hitless with three strikeouts. Over 13.1 innings pitched this season, Morones has a 2.03 ERA and 21 strikeouts. Jake Burcham worked through the 9th inning, holding the Stingers scoreless while striking out a batter. Burcham has 16 strikeouts over 19.2 innings of work this season.
