ABOUT LAST NIGHT

St. Cloud would get off to a fast start on Saturday. Tyson LeBlanc doubled home two in the first, and then Augusto Mungarrieta scored in the second to help St. Cloud to a quick three-run lead.

Bismarck would then battle back to tie it, but that would not last long. After two home runs on Friday, Dominic Smaldino followed up his stellar debut with a solo shot into left field to give the Rox the lead in the fifth inning 4-3.

St. Cloud would add an insurance run on a sac-fly by Tyler Bishop, then, it came down to the final inning.

With a one-run contest going into the ninth, Brandon Jaenke stepped on the mound to earn his fourth save of the 2025 campaign and keep the Rox in front 5-4.

“FOSSIL-FUEL”

Dominic Smaldino has been a revelation in his first two games with St. Cloud. He has already clobbered three home runs in his first action in the Northwoods league. He has quickly tied Austin Haley for the team lead in home runs, as well as providing stellar defense at first base. His slash line sits at .500/.500/2.000/2.500. If you’re wondering if this is a small sample size, it is. However, Smaldinio slashed .277/.357/.505/.862 this spring at Cal. So the numbers are still eye-popping nonetheless.

PROBABLE STARTERS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

STC- JP Robertson gets the ball for his third start of the season, and it will be his first in front of the St. Cloud faithful. The righty from Ole Miss has been a strikeout machine for the Rox so far, picking up 14 K’s in 9.1 innings pitched. His last start against Bismarck, he went 4.1 innings and struck out eight and didn’t allow a run.

BIS- Ryan Radkey will start for the Larks today. He went six scoreless frames against St. Cloud in his last start with three strikeouts. This season, Radkey has a 0.82 ERA in 11 innings with six strikeouts.
