WILLMAR, MN – The St. Cloud Rox (34-16) fell just short of a comeback against the Willmar Stingers (28-23) on Sunday, falling 5-4.

In the top of the third, Alex Dupuy (University of Alabama-Birmingham) drove in a run to tie up the game at 1-1.

St. Cloud would respond in the fifth inning to even up the game again at 3-3 by scoring two runs, with the tying run courtesy of an Augusto Mungarrieta (University of Kansas) RBI double.

Ethan Gibson (Virginia Tech) led off the top of the ninth inning with a solo home run to pull the game within one run, but the rally fell just short as Willmar was victorious 5-4.

The first-half Great Plains West champion Rox rematch the Willmar Stingers on Monday.

The All-Star Trophy and Awards Star of the Game was Augusto Mungarrieta.

St. Cloud plays Willmar again on Monday at 6:35 p.m. before returning to Joe Faber Field on Tuesday, July 22nd, to face the Rochester Honkers at 6:35 p.m. There will be a baseball cap giveaway for the first 250 fans at the ballpark, presented by Franklin Outdoor Advertising.
