May 11, 2018
Every week of the offseason leading up to the start of the 2018 St. Cloud Rox season on May 29, we will pick a former Rox player as the Player of the Week.
This week, it’s Ben Meyer, a pitcher who played in St. Cloud during the 2012 season. Meyer, a University of Minnesota graduate who is 25 years old, is currently playing for the New Orleans Baby Cakes, the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins.
In one appearance during the past week, Meyer had a strong outing to pick up his second win of the season for the Baby Cakes. In that outing, he gave up two hits, one run, no walks and struck out five in seven innings of work. In six games this season, Meyer holds a record of 2-2 in 34.1 innings of work. He has given up 21 hits, eight earned runs, eight walks and recorded 30 strikeouts to bring his earned run average to 2.10.
Meyer appeared in eight games with the Rox during the 2012 season. During that span, he finished with a 5.04 ERA and a 2-2 record in 25 innings, giving up 14 earned runs and striking out 15.
