Rox (COVID-19) Update June 15

June 15, 2020

St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox Baseball Club is eager to begin its 2020 season whenever they are provided clearance to open.  The Rox are hopeful for a July 1 to August 20th season in which they would be included in a new divisional format (MN Pod) that also includes Mankato, Rochester, and Willmar.  Waterloo (IA) would also be added to the MN pod.

The Rox have continued to prepare for its 9th season of play.  A Covid-19 readiness plan has been created.

Some other teams within the Northwoods League have set their season start dates.  Bismarck plans to open on June 15.  Also, six Northwoods League teams will begin play July 1st in a regional “Wisconsin-Illinois pod”.

“We feel extremely optimistic that we will be playing baseball at the Rock Pile soon.  Preparations are being made for the players to arrive and start pre-season workouts so we are ready to go when we get the ok to play.  We aren’t sure exactly what capacity limits we would have at the ballpark but we know that we will have at least some limitations to how many fans can attend each game,” said Rox co-owner Scott Schreiner.

There will be several ways for fans to follow the Rox if they can’t attend games.  The radio play-by-play broadcast is always part of the Rox Broadcasting Network which includes 1390AM, Charter Communications channel 189, & stcloudrox.com   Award-winning broadcaster Evan Hughes who returns for his third season will bring you all the play-by-play action. All league games are also viewable live via the Northwoods League website.  The Rox popular social media accounts are a great way to continue with up-to-date information about the games.

We want to sincerely thank our fans, corporate partners. players, and all of the personnel who make the Rox such an important part of Central Minnesota.  We look forward to safely coming together at the Rock Pile as soon as possible.
