Frontier Precision is surveying the field and found Blake Anderson and Ryan Bourassa getting ready to play for the Larks this summer.
“I definitely wanted to get some Midwest guys from the Bismarck area to come play,” said Larks head coach Will Flynt. “These kids are going to want to play and bust it out for us.”
Ryan Bourassa played high school baseball in West Fargo and is entering his second season as a BSC Mystic. In his first season, he appeared in 13 games with 100 strikeouts, averaging 16 strikeouts per game. He earned six wins with a 4.15 ERA.
He is excited to play in front of sold out crowds for the Larks.
“The Larks bring a lot of entertainment to the community,” Bourassa said. “I know they have a lot of fans and it’s a good way to get good college baseball kids together – meet some new friends.”
The 6’0” 220-pound right-handed pitcher has something unique in his bag of tricks. “I throw a forkball, which not many people throw,” said Bourassa.
“He’s 86-88 mph, top 91 mph and had 100 strikeouts as a freshman,” Flynt said. “So yeah, I was definitely interested in him.”
Blake Anderson is a right-handed pitcher from Fargo entering his first season as a Mystic. He grew up in Fargo where he had a great start to his baseball career. In 2018, while playing for Fargo American Legion Baseball, Anderson had an ERA of .988 with 64 strikeouts in 56 innings.
The 6’2” 190-pound freshman is going to be fun to watch this summer. “I play with a lot of fire, sometimes a little too much fire,” Anderson said, “but I bring a lot of excitement on the field when I’m on the mound.”
Flynt said that Anderson should be throwing a lot in his first season with the Mystics which will prepare him for the summer. “He throws 84-88 mph,” Flynt said. “I’m looking forward to his addition to the team this summer.”
Anderson is eager to play in the Northwoods League. “The Northwoods League is a really well-known league with a lot of scouts who come and watch the games, so it’s pretty exciting to be a part of that now.”
The Larks 2020 season starts May 26 with a home game against the Duluth Huskies.
