The Larks picked up their fourth win in a row with a thrilling 2-1 defeat of the Flickertails on Sunday afternoon. 

Larks left fielder Brayden Koenig wasted no time to make another great diving play. Koenig robbed the very first batter of the game, Flickertails second baseman Rob Mattei, of a hit making a diving play to his left on a sharply hit ball for the Fetzer Electric Play of The Game. He and Larks second baseman Riley Schlimm, both had great diving catches in the game to deny the Flickertails extra offensive opportunities. 

Despite the loss, Hunter Cooper was the best pitcher on the field. The Flickertails righty went seven innings and allowed one earned run. Cooper attacked the strike zone with his fastball that, at times, hit 89 on the gun for the Metro-Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch. The sole reason Cooper was able to give the Flickertails seven innings was the fact he allowed zero walks.  

Things got close in the ninth when Hunter Cooper scored on an RBI single by center fielder Kyler Stenberg. The Larks ran into trouble but shortstop Cal James would come in to record a strikeout of Jason Dressel to end the game. 

The Larks continue to soar, now 32-15 in the 2020 season and are 10-5 since the rosters changed on August 9th. It hasn’t been the same amount of success for the Flickertails, with them having now lost three in a row and are now just 3-12 since August 9th.   

Larks have Monday night off, while the Flickertails take on the Bull Moose for a 7:05 first pitch.
