BISMARCK, ND – The Bismarck Larks fell in game two of the series against the La Crosse Loggers at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark by the score of 11-1. The series split dropped the Larks to 5-3 on the season from first place to second place in the Northwoods League standings.
“You have days like today,” said Larks Head Coach, Sean Repay. “Hopefully this humbles our guys. They’ve been on a hot streak we just got to realize that we have to come out and play better tomorrow.”
Cruz Daddario started on the mound for the Larks and gave up one run in the top of the first inning after Shane McGuire got things started with a double down the right field line and then later scored on a single off the bat of Korey Lee. The Larks would come right back in the bottom of the first with a run of their own when leadoff man, Wyatt Ulrich walked and later scored on a fielder’s choice to the shortstop. Unfortunately, that would be the only run of the game for the Bismarck Larks.
“It was a tough loss. It’s tough losing at home in front of our fans because they put a lot of effort and a lot of support behind us,” said Brandon Barna, who is coming off a home run victory Monday. “We’re not too happy about the effort we display today so hopefully we can get back on track on the road then come back and give the fans a better show.”
The Loggers scored one run in the second inning, added three runs in the fourth and six runs in the fifth inning to secure the victory for La Crosse.
Jordan Bock came on in relief for the Larks in the eighth and ninth innings and pitched 1-2-3 innings to keep the score the same.
The Larks fall to 5-3 on the season, but they will be back in action tomorrow night when they travel to Eau Claire to take on the Express in a four-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Be sure to catch the action on mixlr.com/larksbaseball.
