Sean Repay Returns as Bismarck Larks Field Manager for 2027

Franchise wins leader returns to Bismarck with additional experience in recruiting, player development and professional baseball.

The Bismarck Larks are welcoming a familiar face back to the dugout.

Sean Repay will return as Field Manager for the Bismarck Larks beginning with the 2027 season. Repay previously managed the Larks from 2017 through 2019 and remains the winningest manager in franchise history with 100 career wins.

During his first stint in Bismarck, Repay led the Larks to their first and only playoff appearance in 2018.

Now, he returns with even more experience recruiting players, developing talent and leading teams at the college and professional levels.

“Sean’s success here is part of the story, but the experience he’s gained since then is why we’re excited about what he can bring to the Larks now,” said Nate Maddox, Larks General Manager. “He’s expanded his connections throughout college and professional baseball and taken on the challenge of recruiting and coaching at a demanding professional level. Those experiences have helped him grow as a manager and strengthen the relationships he can draw on to build a competitive baseball program in Bismarck.”

More Experience Since His First Larks Season

Since leaving Bismarck, Repay has added experience at the junior college, NCAA Division I and professional levels.

At Dawson Community College, he helped lead the program to its first NJCAA regional appearance in 12 years and its first regional game victory in more than 17 years.

Repay later joined Coppin State as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. During the Eagles’ 2022 MEAC conference championship season, Coppin State advanced to its first NCAA Division I regional appearance and its pitching staff set a school record with 429 strikeouts.

Following the season, Repay was promoted to associate head coach.

His professional baseball experience includes serving as Manager and Director of Baseball Operations for the Great Falls Voyagers beginning in 2024.

Repay also returned to the Northwoods League for a summer as manager of the Minnesota Mud Puppies. That season included a trip back to Bismarck, this time from the visiting dugout, and gave him another perspective on building and managing a college summer baseball roster.

Bringing That Experience Back to Bismarck

Repay now returns to the Larks with experience building a college program, preparing a team for NCAA postseason competition and leading players at the professional level.

“Bismarck holds a special place in my career, and I’m excited to come back,” Repay said. “Every stop since my first time with the Larks has challenged me to grow, how I communicate, how I prepare a team and how I help players get better. I look forward to bringing those lessons back to Bismarck and building a team our fans can be proud of.”

Repay will succeed Chris Monroe, whose full-time commitment as an assistant coach at Garden City Community College prompted his departure from the Larks.

“We’re grateful to Chris for the time and effort he gave the Larks and our players,” Maddox said. “We support his commitment to his role at Garden City and wish him continued success. We thank him for being part of our organization.”

Repay will lead the Bismarck Larks when the team returns to the field for the 2027 season.
