The Bismarck Larks, in partnership with MDU Resources Group, are proud to recognize Jacob Clark as the September Kid of the Month and the first honoree of the 2026-27 school year.

Each school year, the Bismarck Larks Kid of the Month program celebrates kids who go above and beyond in the classroom, at home and throughout their communities.

“We’re so excited to get this program started, and Jacob is the perfect kid to kick us off,” said Larks Director of Marketing Kloe Medick. “It’s going to be a great school year celebrating kids who are working hard, helping others and doing great things in their communities.”

A Love for STEM and Learning

Jacob is a fifth grader at Midkota Elementary who has developed a strong interest in STEM subjects and hands-on learning.

Last school year, Jacob’s teacher, Carlin Odstricil, nominated him for MDU Resources’ STEM All-Star Program because of the enthusiasm he brings to the classroom.

“He’s very excited about STEM and hands-on learning and likes to contribute to class with his ideas,” Mrs. Odstricil said. “I nominated him because of how excited he is about learning in STEM-related subjects.”

That excitement extends beyond STEM. Jacob works hard to bring his best to the classroom each day while continuing to explore the things he loves outside of school.

When he isn’t learning, Jacob enjoys building with LEGOs, playing sports and spending time with his family.

Jacob’s willingness to help others extends beyond the classroom.

In the summer of 2025, Jacob joined members of his community in cleanup efforts after a tornado impacted their town, lending a hand when his neighbors needed it most.

It’s that combination of curiosity, hard work and willingness to help others that makes Jacob a great choice to begin this year’s Kid of the Month program.

What’s Next for Jacob?

As the September Kid of the Month, Jacob will receive tickets to the MDU Resources Kid of the Year game during the 2027 Bismarck Larks season, a customized Larks jersey and additional prizes and experiences throughout the program.

Jacob is the first of nine Kids of the Month who will be recognized during the 2026-27 school year.

Next summer, all nine honorees will be celebrated at the ballpark, where one will be named the 2027 Kid of the Year and receive a $1,000 scholarship contribution to their College SAVE account, provided by MDU Resources Group.
