CLOUD, MN– The Bismarck Larks six game winning streak was snapped tonight in the final game of their eight game road trip against the St. Cloud Rox by final score of 11-9. The Larks fall to 21-11 on the season and with the Duluth Huskies losing, the Larks are only one game back of first place in the Northwoods League standings with four games left in the first half.
The game got off to a hot start with the Larks scoring six runs in the first inning. Tristen Carranza hit a grand slam and Matt Warkentin hit a two run home run to give the Larks a 6-0 lead.
The Rox would battle back all night long as they were able to score at least one run in the first six innings. Scoring two in the first, one in the second, three in third, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in sixth, the Larks just weren’t able to match the scoring in this one.
Four different pitchers saw action in this game for Bismarck with Michael Farnell being the only one to not allow a run.
Kyle Stevens hit a two run home run in the 7th inning to make it a two run ball game and an 11-9 score but the Larks were unable to get any closer than that.
The Larks lost 11-9 and are now 21-101 on the season. The Larks will be back in action tomorrow night when they take on the Eau Claire Express. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Catch all the action on http://mixlr.com/larksbaseball/.
