The Larks and Bismarck Funeral Home worked together to on their second annual “Bucket List” promotion. This year, that promotion gave away the trip of a lifetime to two lucky North Dakotans.

Lanette and Jay Schmaltz, from Strasburg, ND, won a trip to Pasadena California and tickets to the Rose Bowl Parade. Going to the Rose Bowl Parade had been something they have wanted to do for years, and now they get to cross it off their Bucket List.

“It’s just something I’ve always wanted to see. I’ve always been into flowers – loved flowers,” Lanette said. “He (Jay) loves it because I do.” They are both very excited to see the parade and enjoy warmer weather.

Lanette signed up for the promotion over the summer on the Bismarck Larks mobile app and at a game. The promotion, presented by Bismarck Funeral Home, asked fans to list their top bucket list items and one lucky fan wins $1,000 towards their experience.

After 645 entries, Lanette’s trip to the Rose Bowl was selected as the winner. They flew out of Bismarck on December 30 and are spending a couple of days in California before returning.

“It’s so fun to hear their excitement and see the emotion in their eyes,” said Mike Nathe, Owner at Bismarck Funeral Home. “Being able to help someone fulfil their lifelong dream is an honor and a privilege.”

“It’s going to be like a second honeymoon for us!” Lanette said.
