The Bismarck Larks fell to the Willmar Stingers on Thursday July 11th by a final score of 6-1. The Larks will look to rebound against the Stingers on July 12th before traveling back home for 3 more games before the All-Star break. The Larks will look to even up the season series vs. the Stingers as they are 4-5 against Willmar this season.

What’s Next: The Larks and Stingers will face off at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar on Friday July 12th. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. 

How It Happened: The Willmar Stingers got on the board first in the 2nd inning with a pair of runs off of starting pitcher Hunter Kloke. The Stingers extended their lead in the next inning as well. They scored one run in the 3rd off of a sacrifice fly which was an unearned run charged to Kloke to make it 3-0.

Then, in the 4th inning the Stingers got fortunate with a 1-out broken bat jam shot that fell into left field for a bloop single off of Kloke. Kloke then got an out before allowing 3 runs with two outs. An inning that was unfortunate considering that Kloke could’ve been out of the inning with no runs if not for the bloop single. Through 4 innings of play the Larks trailed 6-0.

The Larks scored one run in the 8th inning as Alex Peterson drove in Damon Lux with an RBI single to make the score 6-1. This was as close as the Larks got though however. The Larks offense put good swings on the ball in the game but were unable to score runs. The Larks had 7 hits in the game while the Stingers had 9. Not to mention, the Larks lined out 6 times in the game. Starting pitcher for Willmar, Trevor Divinski threw 7 shutout innings for what was his first shutout outing in the Northwoods League this summer.

Beyond The Boxscore: Alex Peterson raised his batting average to .324 on the season after picking up a couple of hits in the game. Peterson now leads the team in batting average. Peterson has an active six-game hitting streak and has 4 straight multi-hit games.
