The Bismarck Larks lost the final game of the series against the Willmar Stingers by a score of 6-2. Today’s game was presented by Hollevoet Orthodontics. The Larks shined defensively today but could not get on the scoreboard until the bottom of the 9th inning when Brody Tanksley hit a two-run home run to left field.

What’s Next: The Bismarck Larks will hit the road to Rochester where they will play four games in three days against the Honkers. The first game of the series takes place on Monday, July 29. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm. 

How it Happened: The Stingers got on the board first in the game when three consecutive base hits scored Willmar center fielder, Riley Johnson. Brennan Mckenzie was the next Stinger to cross the plate after a groundout drove him in. The third and final run of the inning then scored on an error to make the game 3-0.

The Stingers added one more in the top of the 5th inning, Willmar had another three consecutive hits to start the inning before a sacrifice fly off the bat of Chase Stanke increased the lead to 4-0.

The Stingers then tacked on two more in the top of the 7th, via an RBI single from Brennan Mckenzie before another sacrifice fly from Chase Stanke made the Larks deficit 6-0.

Brody Tanksley then got the Larks on the board in the bottom of the 9th inning with his 3rd home run of the season, all of which have been at home. His two-run shot created the only runs the Larks were able to produce in the game as they lost by a final score of 6-2. 

Beyond the Boxscore: Zack Gregory walked today pushing his total on the year to 56 which is tied for the Northwoods League lead in walks. Wyatt Ulrich scored today putting his total for the year at 59. He remains the Northwoods League leader in that category. The Larks offense still leads the league in runs scored (389), walks (334), and RBI (322) for the whole season.
