The Bismarck Larks slip up against the Rochester Honkers on Basin Electric Power Cooperative and Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative Education Day in the second game of the series 8-1. The Honkers came out of the gates ready, scoring six runs in the first two innings. The Larks hope to reclaim the lead in the series after the evening game.

How it Happend: Fernando Diaz Jr.’s debut on the mound for the Larks didn’t go as planned as he gave up three earned runs in the first inning before Gavin Rogers came in and threw the next seven innings giving up 4 runs and throwing seven strikeouts and just walking two batters.
The Honkers scored three more off of Rogers in the second to get out to the 6-0 lead. The Larks put up their only run in the bottom of the inning. Luke Stephenson started off the inning with a bloop single to center field. Alex Peterson then hit an infield single that brought Stephenson to third. Jacob Rogers then hit a sacrifice fly to bring Stephenson home.
The game stayed at 6-1 until the 5th when the Honkers tacked on another run to make it 7-1. The Honkers scored their final run of the game in the 9th when Trent Sidwell hit a batter with the bases loaded to make the game 8-1. Sidwell however, struck out three in his one inning of work.
Daniel Silva held Lark batters to just four hits in his eight innings on the mound. The Larks will hope to have better luck at the plate during the nightcap of the doubleheader tonight in the third game of the series against Rochester.
