The Bismarck Larks rebounded in a big way Saturday evening against the Duluth Huskies winning the contest by a score of 11-3. Patrick Arndt had a huge game going 2-for-4 with a walk, two triples, an RBI, and three runs scored. Jacob Rogers also produced at the plate for the Larks as he had his third consecutive multi-hit game going 2 for 4 with two singles, a HBP, and 2 RBI on the night. The Larks hope to complete the sweep against the Huskies tomorrow. What’s Next: The Bismarck Larks will face off against the Duluth Huskies on Sunday, June 23. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 pm at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark, Home of Dakota Community Bank Trust and Field.

How it Happened: Duluth scored first in the top of the first inning after three consecutive singles scored Huskies second baseman, Lance Ford to take a 1-0 lead. Duluth then added another in the second after Tyler Lozano reached on a single before stealing second and scoring on the single from Noah Marcelo with two outs to make it 2-0.

The Larks tied the game in the bottom of the second inning when Cole Taylor reached on a walk then was driven home by a Patrick Arndt triple to straight away center field. Arndt then scored shortly after on a throwing error by Duluth on Zack Gregory grounder up the middle.

The Huskies battled back in the 3rd when another run was manufactured by Lance Ford after he reached on an error, stole a base, advanced on a wild pitch, and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly.

Fernando Diaz Jr. then settled into the ballgame throwing the three scoreless innings to end the outing. Diaz Jr. only allowed one hit in those three innings while striking out one. Diaz picked up his first victory of the season as he left the ballgame with a 4-3 lead through six innings.

The Larks then took the lead for the first time in the game during the bottom half of the 5th inning. A one-out double from Wyatt Ulrich, a walk from David Mendham and a Jacob Rogers hit-by-pitch loaded the bases. Ulrich scored on a passed ball before Jack Chernow singled in Mendham to take the lead 4-3 in favor of the Larks.

Then in the 6th inning, the Larks added onto the lead. Arndt lead things off with a walk, then Cooper Bowman singled to right field before David Mendham walked to load the bases with two outs. Jacob Rogers delivered his second hit of the game for two runs with two outs to increase the lead to 6-3.

The Larks then scored three more runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to put the game out of reach. AJ DiFillipo started things off with a walk and then came around to score on three wild pitches before Cooper Bowman walked. Bowman then advanced to second on a wild pitch before Zack Gregory then delivered his first hit of the night for his 14th RBI of the season with a single to center field to increase the lead to 8-3. The Larks then added one more in the inning after two walks loaded the bases. With two outs, Jack Chernow drove in the third run of the inning on a walk to make it 9-3.

The Larks then added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th. Pat Arndt hit his second triple of the night again to deep centerfield. Wyatt Ulrich then drove in his 21st RBI of the season on a groundball that’s tied for second in the Northwoods League. Cooper Bowman who walked prior to the play also scored on a throwing error that advanced Ulrich to second.

Josh Gray then capped things off by not only throwing three scoreless innings but three hitless innings. Gray only allowed one baserunner in the final three innings and it was on an error. Gray struck out three in the three innings of work. He now has four hitless innings on the season, all coming against the Duluth Huskies. The Larks won 11-3.
