Larks 2020 Roster

Wyatt Ulrich’s return headlines an athletic lineup.

Frontier Precision presents the 2020 Bismarck Larks roster. The Larks fourth season roster consists of players from all over the country from a range of divisions. This season there are 11 Division I players, 12 Division II players, one Division III player, three NAIA players and one NJCAA player. Of the 28 players on the roster, Wyatt Ulrich and Brody Tanksley are the only returners from last season.

“I wanted to get some Midwest guys. These guys are going to want to play and bust it out for us. My team is based on athletes,” said Larks head coach Will Flynt. “They earn spots by being flexible. I want a bunch of guys who are athletic and can play wherever. We’ve got a bunch of guys we can plug in about anywhere and they’ll do well.”

The effects of COVID-19 saw the abrupt end of collegiate sports around the nation, baseball was no exception. Many of the Larks’ players have been given another year of eligibility from the NCAA, including outfielder and Bismarck fan favorite, Wyatt Ulrich.

Ulrich will return for his fourth and final season with Bismarck Larks this summer. Last season, he played in 70 games batting .323 with 40 RBIs, 82 hits and was named to the NWL 2019 All-Star team. Ulrich owns several career Larks records including hits, runs, RBI and stolen bases.

Ulrich’s final season with the Johnnies was cut short, but Ulrich was granted another year of eligibility. He plans to use the extra year to attend graduate school at the University of Richmond and play baseball.

“It’s nice playing in Bismarck because they have the most committed fans out there,” said Ulrich. “I’m excited to come back and play baseball. I haven’t played baseball in two months, so the competition is going to be awesome to have again.”

“I’m really glad Wyatt is coming back,” said Flynt. “He’s going to help us on and off the field tremendously and I’m excited.”

The Larks’ season opens on June 15 at 7:05 p.m. against the Mandan Flickertails at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark Home of Dakota Community Bank & Trust Field
