BISMARCK, ND– The Bismarck Larks come away with a 9-6 win over the Rochester Honkers in a game that was almost four hours and had 22 total hits and eight errors. The Larks improve to 15-9 on the season and are now in sole possession of second place in the Northwoods League standings, three games behind the Duluth Huskies.

Tristen Carranza got the bottom of the second going with a one out walk and later scored on a fielder’s choice hit by Brandon Barna. Jacob Nesbit also scored in the second inning when Matt Warkentin singled into center field. The Honkers put one run up in the top of the third inning to make it a 2-1 score.

Michael Farnell hit a three run home run deep over the right field wall to put the Larks on top 5-1 after three innings.

Carlos Lopez started on the mound for Bismarck and threw 3.2 innings and allowed four runs as the Honkers were able to plate three runs in the top half of the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Kyle Stevens scored his second run of the game after leading the inning off with a walk and was driven in when a Lark grounded into a double play, making it a 6-4 ballgame.

In the top of the sixth inning, a double lead the inning off and two singles and a sacrifice fly scored two runs to tie the game up at six.  The Larks battled back scoring two runs of their own in the bottom half of the sixth inning when Cristian Montes and Chase Coker came across to score. Montes scored his second run of the game in the top of the eighth inning to give the Larks the 9-6 lead.

Tristen Hudson earned the victory on the mound and Colan Borchers got the save for the Larks.

The Larks won by a score of 9-6 and are now 15-9 on the season. The Larks will be back in action tomorrow night when they travel to take on the La Crosse Loggers to start their eight game road trip. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Catch all the action on http://mixlr.com/larksbaseball/.
