BISMARCK, ND– The Bismarck Larks and Willmar Stingers battled until the very end, but the Stingers were able to come out on top 2-1 in a tightly contested ball game. The Larks are now 25-17 on the season and 0-6 in the second half.
Hendry Rodriguez started on the mound for the Larks and struggled in the top of the 3rd inning, allowing two runs while walking four batters and giving up a triple. Rodriguez pitched 6.2 innings, allowing just two runs, while striking out six batters and walking seven. He took home the hard luck loss on the mound. Colan Borchers came on in relief for the Larks and didn’t allow a run while giving up two hits in 2.1 innings.
Jonathan McKinney was Willmar’s starting pitcher and he threw seven innings and struck out 12 batters. He earned the win on the mound and only allowed one run and gave up three hits.
Tristen Carranza scored the only run of the game for the Larks in the bottom of the 4th inning when he got on base on a one out walk. He would score on a bases loaded walk to Braden Williams. That was the only scoring for the Larks in this one.
Bismarck had a chance in the bottom of the 9th inning when Williams came to the plate with first and third and two outs. He popped up to left field for the final out of the game.
The Larks lost 2-1 and are now 25-17 on the season and 0-6 in the second half. The Larks will be back in action tomorrow night when they travel to take on the Thunder Bay Border Cats. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Catch all the action on http://mixlr.com/larksbaseball/.
