BISMARCK, ND – The Bismarck Larks come up short at home against the St. Cloud Rox by a score of 7-4 in a tightly contested ballgame. The Larks fall to 10-6 on the season and drop to second place in the Northwoods League standings.
The Rox got things started early in the first inning with a two run homerun off of the bat of Landon Stephens to go up 2-0. The Larks would come up empty ended in the bottom of the first inning for the first time at home all season.
St. Cloud tacked on four more runs in the top of the third inning to make it a 6-0 score. The Larks battled back nicely in the bottom of the third inning when Ripken Reyes drove in Matt Warkentin and then Kyle Stevens drove in Dylan Rock. Mike Farnell then drove in Stevens on a sacrifice fly to make it 6-3 early in the game.
The momentum was all Larks, all night but they weren’t able to scratch across enough runs to ever tie it back up. The Larks scored again in the bottom of the sixth inning when Barna drove in Chase Coker to make it a 6-4 game.
The Rox would add one in the top of the ninth inning and that would be the final run of the game.
The Larks fall in their final game of this four game home stand and fall to 10-6 on the season. The Larks will be back in action tomorrow as they hit the road for a four game road series starting with Rochester and ending with La Crosse. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 in Rochester tomorrow night. Catch all the action on http://mixlr.com/larksbaseball/.
