The Larks picked up their sixth win in a row, defeating the Mandan Flickertails 9-5 in a game presented by the YMCA. s

The larks were led by a strong pitching performance from starter Brian Baker who went 5.1 innings giving up just one hit and no runs, while struck out eight Flickertail batters. The outing marked the second straight start for Baker in which he tossed five or more innings and registered six or more strikeouts.

On the mound for the Flickertails was Patrick Pridgen making his first start since the June 15th season opener. Pridgen was feeling his fastball, hitting 94 mph on the gun for the Metro Area Ambulance fastest pitch. Pridgen went two innings striking out four Larks, and gave up no runs while allowing just one hit.

Offense was not a problem for the Larks with the Larks bats coming alive to collect nine runs on 12 hits. Eight of the nine Larks batters recorded a hit against Flickertails pitching.

The Larks plate productivity was led by Wyatt Ulrich who finished the night 3-4 with two RBIs and a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle. Ulrich’s triple in the sixth inning was the Fetzer Electric play of the game, as he beat the throw into the bag and proceeded to flap his wings in celebration.

The first-place Larks take a night off before playing Saturday’s doubleheader. The Flickertails battle the Bismarck Bull Moose Friday at 7:05 p.m — a game concluded by a Friday night Fetzer Electric Fireworks Show.
