BISMARCK, ND– At the end of the day, the Bismarck Larks come out on top over the Waterloo Bucks with a 5-0 victory. In game one the Larks fell 6-1 but after both games, the Larks end the day with a 34-27-1 overall record and a 9-16-1 record in the second half.
In game one the Larks struggled to get the bats going, only pushing across one run that came in the first inning but they weren’t able to get anything after that. They stranded 11 runners on the bases in game one and had two chances with bases loaded but weren’t able to bring any of them in. The Larks hit into three double plays which killed all momentum.
The Bucks scored two runs in the third innings, two in the fifth inning and two more in the eighth inning to secure their victory.
In game two things were totally different for the Larks, with Hendry Rodriguez starting on the mound, he pitched eight innings and struck out 10 batters. He was dominate on the mound from start to finish and never allowed the Bucks to come around to score. Matt Munden came on in the top of the 9th inning to finish the game and secure the shutout.
The bats came alive for the Larks in game two when Matt Warkentin hit a three run home run in the bottom of the 4th inning to give the Larks an early lead. In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Larks pushed two more across to give the Larks a 5-0 lead.
Despite hitting into 10 doubles plays in this four game home series, the Larks were able to come out on top in two of four games.
The Larks lost 6-1 in game one and won 5-0 in game two and are now 34-27-1 on the season and 9-16-1 in the second half. The Larks will be back in action tomorrow at 7:05 against the Willmar Stingers in game one of a two game series. Catch all the action on http://mixlr.com/larksbaseball/.
