The Bismarck Larks dropped the first game of a four-game series to the Minnesota Mud Puppies, 6-4. Tonight’s game was presented by US 103.3 (Townsquare Media).

On the hill for the Larks, they saw impressive outings from all three pitchers out of the bullpen. Stephen Klenske (Palomar College) was the first to enter in the sixth inning, going one inning allowing no hits, no earned runs, and striking out two Mud Puppies.

Kevin Wiseman (Arkansas State) made his first appearance on the mound this year for the Larks. He only threw nine pitches and struck all three batters he saw, while also delivering the Metro Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch of the Game, at 94 mph. Wiseman also finished with the Fetzer Electric Play of the Game after striking out Pete Johnson (Bradley University) on the ninth pitch of the inning, completing the immaculate inning.

Finally, Morgan McCloud (Texas Wesleyan) went two innings in the eighth and ninth allowing only one run and striking out two. 

For the Mud Puppies, relief pitcher Dorsey Catham (Xavier University) pitched a strong outing, going two and two thirds innings pitched, allowing only one hit, no earned runs, and struck out one. Chad Fox (Minnesota-Duluth) got the start and allowed only two earned runs and struck out five. 

The Larks today combined for a total of eight hits, one from second baseman Kai Hori who finished with a two RBI double in the fourth.  Jake Hjelle (Minnesota-Crookston) delivered an RBI and came around to score as well. Finally, Spencer Sarringar (Northern State) went two for four with a walk and a scored run in the fourth. 

The Mud Puppies saw a good performance from second baseman Noah Dehne (North Dakota State) who went two five with a solo home run and three RBIs. Cam Hunter (Highland Community College) went one for three with and walk and two scored runs. 

The Larks face off against the Mud Puppies for the second game of a four-game series tomorrow at 6:35. Tomorrow’s game is presented by Lignite Energy Council for Kids’ Choice Awards: Teacher Edition.
