The Bismarck Larks once again put on an offensive show in the fourth game of the series after winning 16-8 for the second consecutive night. AJ DiFillipo lead the way for the Larks going 2-for-6 driving in 6 RBI including a three-run triple that was tonight’s Rocking 101 Rocking at Bat of the game. The Larks have now scored an incredible 61 runs in their first four games after completing the four-game sweep of the Eau Claire Express.
What’s Next: The Bismarck Larks head west to St.Cloud to take on the St.Cloud Rox. The first game of the series takes place on June 1 at 7:05. The Larks hope to keep the momentum from the opening series going as they are set to face the 2-2 Great Plains West division rival St.Cloud Rox tomorrow night on the road.
How It Happened: The Larks got out to a six-run lead after two innings when Wyatt Ulrich and Cole Taylor both doubled in two runs to take the lead for the Larks. Eau Claire put up two on the board in the fourth against starting pitcher Gavin Rogers before the Larks got those two back on an error. The Express scored two more in the top of the fifth to make it 8-4 but that was the closest the Express got as AJ DiFillipo cleared the bases with a triple into the right field corner in the bottom half of the fifth to make it 11-4.
The Larks put up a 5-run sixth inning to add to the lead courtesy of an AJ DiFillipo two-RBI single to complete his six-RBI night en route to player of the game.
Gavin Rogers sat down the first 10 guys he saw and got the win after going seven innings and allowing seven runs but had six strikeouts to lead all pitchers in the ballgame. Evan Davis then came on to throw the final two innings giving up one earned run and throwing two strikeouts.
Inside The Boxscore: The Larks scored 61 runs in the series for over an average of 15 runs a game which is a Northwoods League record through the first four games to start a season.
