It's official…the new Northwoods League team is named the Bismarck Larks!

After over 500 submissions and 1,000 votes, the Bismarck community leading vote getter was the Bismarck Larks.

Named after North Dakota's state bird (the Meadowlark) the Larks name not only has a great ring to it when said with Bismarck, but the bird also visits our state mostly in the summer (just like our baseball team).

"We're so happy to develop a brand that is not only fun but represents the community we serve," said John Bollinger, the team's General Manager. "It's the state bird, we're in the state capital, it just makes sense. And it's fun! Fans will really enjoy how we integrate the Larks theme at the ballpark."

The colors will be black, heather gray, and gold and fans will soon see a variety of alternative logos on the team's website and merchandise store. The team also has a new website URL (www.bismarcklarks.com) and new social media accounts (Facebook: Bismarck Larks, Twitter: @bismarcklarks) which will transfer over on Monday.

The team also announced that Erik Moe, a Bismarck local, was the winner of the team's #NameYourTeam contest and won season tickets for life, a team jersey, hat, and will be throwing out the first pitch on Opening Day.

Team merchanidise is available at the team's front office location (201 W Front Ave, Bismarck, ND 58504) and will be available online soon. Fans can also reserve their 7 game ticket packages  online.

A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 160 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Lucas Duda (NYM) and Ben Zobrist (CHC).
